Baucus, Kerry, And Murray Selected To Super Committee

No one but Harry Reid knows why he selected Max Baucus, John Kerry, and Patti Murray but it's apparent achievement didn't have anything to do with it. There aren't a lot of Senators who majored in "recreation" but this propensity toward intellectual lethargy and an apparent lack of natural curiosity gives Patti Murray a keen insight into the mind of the average Democrat voter. She also serves on the Democratic National Senatorial Committee which should give potential Democratic Senate candidates pause.

John Kerry, another Senatorial chronic underachiever, is remembered as the Democratic Presidential candidate of 2004. Aside from that he is best known for his wind surfing, biking, and state tax evasion where he docked his yacht in Rhode Island to avoid paying taxes to his beloved Bay State. Oh, he did serve in Vietnam and has married well above his economic stature not once but twice.

Max Baucus as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee does indeed bring some competence to the table. Readers will remember, maybe not favorably, his wheeling and dealing during the passage of Obamacare. Although he doesn't have to run for election for two more years, Baucus may feel enough pressure from conservative Montana to push him just enough to do something responsible.
