Irish polar bears? Who would have know? The Washington Post is reporting:
"All polar bears alive today are descended from a single female brown bear that most likely hailed not from Alaska — as widely presumed — but from Ireland, scientists said."
By comparing the mitochondrial DNA in fossils scientists think they can trace the origin of the polar bear to Ireland but they have yet to locate any dens containing potatoes or high proof whiskey.
