This blog has written either positively or not about all the major Republican candidates. Its has never focused on former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum. Generally considered to be a social conservative Santorum, has had trouble stepping out of the shadows of Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain. Indeed things are bleak for Santorum he leads only Jon Huntsman in the Real Clear Politics poll but he has put forth a bold economic proposal which could and should be copied by the other candidates. Santorum would allow international corporations to repatriate their foreign earnings at a tax rate of 5% as opposed to the current rate of 35%. In addition to that he would exempt all manufacturing companies from the corporate tax. This is just the kind of thinking the GOP needs. Kudos to Rick Santorum!
I think the function these candidates serve is to push the current crop to the right. I like Santorum but he hasn't got a shot.
ReplyDeleteNot a prayer. That's why it took me this long to mention him. But I like that idea. I haven't seen it on the web but on television Pawlenty is the only Republican questioning Michele Bachmann's physical ability to serve. He must have hired some of her former aides.
