HUD Breaks Law, Funds Acorn Front Group

Did not the Congress pass legislation and did not President Obama sign into law the Defund Acorn Act? Then why did an Acorn offshoot, Afordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA) recieve a grant for $79,819 from HUD. From Judicial Watch:

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that that the Obama Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued a $79,819 grant to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN)-offshoot Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA) in apparent violation of an ACORN funding ban passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama in 2009. Moreover, this grant was provided to the organization less than a year after ACORN/ACHOA was criticized by HUD’s inspector general in two separate investigations for misappropriating funds from federal grants.

Lest anyone think this action is anything other than a blatant disregard for the law, ACHOA lists it address as the New Orleans address used by ACORN and has the same board of directors. Here is the HUD web site that announced the grant. Scroll down to Florida. Of course a government that can't obey its own laws is not able to balance its budget. It took less than one year for this law to be broken.
