Admitted Illegal Has Driver's Licence Pulled
Even a fish wouldn't get caught if he kept his mouth shut. The state of Washington has pulled the driver's licence of a journalist who bragged in the New York Times Magazine that he was in this country illegally. In a piece he penned under the headline, "My life as an undocumented immigrant," Jose Antonio Vargas laid bare details of a life built on lies that started with his arrival as a 12-year-old on a fake passport from the Philippines 18 years ago. Washington does give driver licenses to people who are in the country illegally but requires them to be a resident of the state. Varges does have a valid social security card which his grandfather obtained for him when he was he first arrived in this country. The department has canceled 187 licenses so far this year based on fraud that was discovered through use of facial recognition technology. In most cases, the drivers had more than one record in the system.
