Seven staffers quit Newt Gingrich's campaign today and this will almost assuredly sink his quest for the Republican nomination. Like embattled Congressman Anthony (Tough Tony) Weiner, Gingrich promised to stay in the fray and said he would re-launch his campaign next week. In addition to the seven staffers, former Georgia Governor, Sonny Perdue the campaign's co-chairman, defected to Governor Tim Pawlenty's campaign. No one is saying what triggered the mass exodus but it is generally believed the staff was not pleased that Gingrich took two weeks off for a cruise vacation. Two of the staffers, Dave Carney and Rob Johnson are long time aides to Texas Governor Rick Perry who is now thought to be ready to enter the race.
After stumbling through his campaign debut, when he called the Ryan budget plan "right wing social engineering" Gingrich appeared to have gotten back on track. He was drawing large crowds in Iowa and there was no hint of any internal discord. After taking the cruise Gingrich did go to New Hampshire but never returned to Iowa.
My ONLY view of Gingrich, though I respected his intellect, was the picture of him on that couch with Pelosi, whining about global warming. I ALMOST think that I could have accepted his flawed view of global warming but I could NEVER accept appearing with her. She's a conniver and a redistributionist.
ReplyDeleteAnd as we all know, the whole global warming canard is all about redistributing income, just like your article on the EPA regs regarding the coal industry.
How is it possible that one administration could do so much intentional damage to the economy.
