My Favorite Economist

Dambisa Moyo is my new favorite economist. Dr. Dambisa was raised in Zambia and earned her doctorate at Oxford. She has worked for the World Bank and (God forbid) Goldman Sachs. She has written two books: "Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There is a Better Way For Africa" and How The West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly - And the Stark Choices that Lie Ahead. She contributes to Big Think and lectures in several venues. Dr. Moyo is critical of the celebrity "friends" of Africa such as Bono who she says always paint Africa in desperate straits. She opposes aid to Africa, not humaitarian aid as one would expect to see in extreme cases of famine or drought but rather the government to government aid which corrupts governments and undermines the legitimate political leaders. The video below is quite long but it's time well spent.
