Ledeen was right: the boy president tries to prove himself

We noticed Michael Ledeen's concerned column the other day. On March 16, Michael Ledeen wrote the following at Pajamas Media in an article called Faster, Please! What would a Desperate Wimp Do?:

And so I asked myself, is there a point at which a president realizes that wimps don’t get reelected? And if so, what might he do to shatter that image? For the next two years I worried that Carter might overreact to some international crisis in order to make folks see that he was really a tough guy.
It never happened, to my relief. But I’m starting to have the same worries about Obama
So here we are, fairly uncertain what our mission is in Libya, concerned about who's actually leading the military endeavor and wondering what the heck we're doing sending the Illinois National Guard over to Libya.
So is this it, though some have criticized the latest military action as The One being nagged pressed into action by three women.
Most Americans haven't had time to process the current military situation of bombing Libya; at first blush, it seems the right thing to do. But further examination reveals the chaos behind the scenes as there seems to be no plan in place.
For example, what do we want?
Do we want Ghaddaffi removed? The government say no.
If not, what do we expect to achieve by bombing the country?
Just putting the country on notice as to not torture its citizens? But that is current policy for Ghaddaffi. Do we honestly think that is going to change, without other countries' intervention and troops on the ground?
What is most striking about recent developments are the images coming out of the Obama vacation to Latin America.
In another example of complete disconnect and lack of sensitivity, the President of the United States issued the order to bomb a country and then frolicked off to another country, where pictures of him enjoying himself are everywhere.
  How does this look?
"Hey, I just gave the order to bomb a third Muslim country!"

  1. Obama aside, we sure picked a great bunch of guys to joint venture with. I mean the "rebels". All they do is mug for the camera, fire a few rounds from their AK-47's then jump in their trucks. I have memories of Budapest in 1956 and these clowns don't compare. They don't compare to the Viet Cong, they don't even compare to the Mexican drug cartel. If they ever stumbled into a battle like Mogadishu they would leave after 15 minutes. They only way these clowns will ever win is by duping the US to fight for them. No Mordecai Tenenbaums here!

  2. I have a great deal of ambivalence toward what's happening. As a hawk, I'd like to trash every tinpot dictator on the planet. However it's very difficult to get behind this one; it just seems so....random. I keep trying to justify what's going on but it just sure seems nobody's in charge and nobody has a plan and nobody knows what the heck they're doing. Plus there's that dang mission creep thing.
I don't think anybody compares to the drug cartel. Well. Maybe al Qaeda, for whom they've modeled themselves. That head chopping stuff is definitely catching on south of dee border.
