The problem/s with Ron Paul

  Now that CPAC has concluded, there's a lot of speculation about possible 2012 Republican candidates. While the polling has already begun like CRAZY, the truth is that most Republicans have only had negative exposure and no Republicans have started a campaign yet, yet polling organizations take great joy in reporting that Obama leads all candidates in all states. A form of early poll persuasion, n'est ce pas?
  Politico reports that Oprah has called for more "respect" for the President, something we didn't hear during the Bush years.

Oprah called on President Obama's critics on Friday to show "a certain level of respect.” and "the presidency is a position that “holds a sense of authority and governance over us all,” and that “even if you’re not in support of his policies, there needs to be a certain level of respect.”

  Maybe Ms. Oprah has forgotten the "respect" shown for Bush during his presidency:

  Bill Maher, et al, frets that O'Reilly was disrespectful in interviewing The One:

If you saw the interview he did at the Super Bowl, I thought it was very disrespectful, literally unpatriotic. Oh. Show our, show our little thing. We built this, we might as well show it every week. There you go. Reclaiming patriotism. Arianna was talking about it. You know, we talk about getting guns off, you know, everybody having a gun would be patriotic. Giving people healthcare. This is patriotic. And so would this be: not belittling your President. I mean, some of things he said to them…

...while a "besotted" writer at USA Today thinks that Obama should back to doing "what he knows best: wizard of all things to all people and master of warming healing," and no, that's not a joke. 

  Meanwhile the nation wonders if nuclear material has been found in San Diego and who's really in charge of our intelligence, considering that they've been getting their information from tv.    

  And O'Connell at Canada Free Press worries what our values are now, along with who's in charge. A great read:

Obama’s propensity to pretend he was qualified for various posts, despite any training, developed until he was a full-fledged con artist. This was perfectly symbolized by accepting the Nobel Peace Prize after 11 days of presidential eligibility, unaware this exposed him as a habitual fraud. But even his most recent actions, after two years of ineffectual service, were inane. He backed a radical Islamic sect, who favors Shari’ah Islamic law—the Muslim Brotherhood, after abandoning one of America’s most important allies in the Middle East, in the name of “democracy.” This reinforced perceptions of suspect analytic skills, a perpetual orientation towards radical Marxism, and default towards reactionary Islam.

   So who's going to be running the country in 2012 and even who's running for office is crucial; most conservatives are longing for a truly strong, patriotic, American voice, voices like Christie, Allen West, Herman Cain, and Sarah Palin. But Palin's family troubles grow tiresome, Christie isn't running, West isn't either and Herman Cain is a long shot.

  Enter Ron Paul. 

  Most people have heard that Paul again packed the CPAC with $15 entry fee college students who exhibited bizarre behavior yet again. One wonders about the sensibilities of college students who seem to have no sense of propriety or loyalty other than to themselves. Scream at a memorial service. Scream at Donald Rumsfeld. Scream at anyone who opposes your POV. Everything's a pep rally to be disrupted, at their will.

  Ron Paul is a problem, as are his acolytes. The poll is bought and paid for so it means nothing, but if Paul decides to run, he will skew results, playing the part of spoiler ie Ralph Nader. Paul has a reputation for racist newsletters detailed here a few years back, and he defines himself with isolationist, protectionism philosophies and an antipathy for Israel. 

  While people can evolve in viewpoints, Paul has never distanced himself from the newsletters, other than to claim someone else wrote them, even though most were written in first person.

Young Americans for Freedom has expelled Rep. Ron Paul (R., Tex.) from its advisory board. Yesterday afternoon, the higher-ups decided to remove Paul at their annual board meeting. In a statement to the press, YAF cites Paul’s “delusional and disturbing alliance with the fringe Anti-War movement” as its reason for the purge.

  America needs a strong voice, not an isolationist, in its next president. 

  We don't have one now.
