Because of the MSM's refusal to cover this development positively, perhaps you haven't heard that he spoke to a people who mean to be free.
Recalling the tumultuous political conflicts of the last two years that have been evidenced through demonstrations, protests and petitions of citizens protesting a government's policies that run counter to their will, the President of the United States took steps to be inclusive in his appeal to the people, to take into account the difference in the way the people feel the country should be run, and to heal the wounds of the previous years.
Let's take a look at what he said, keeping in mind that the "opposition" movement has spread, non-violently, throughout the country, as resistance has grown to repeated and vicious attempts to control the lives, laws, regulations and wills of the people.
It has been rumored through the MSM that President Obama has sought to emulate President Ronald Reagan; this speech, in its warm reassurance of humanity, seems to verify that.
At last acknowledging the validity of the protests, through a message of patriotism, unity and concern for those loyal citizens who have opposed him philosophically but have supported him personally as the first African American president, President Obama commended the dedication of those patriots who have fought for American ideals.
In a departure from the sneering contempt the President has shown previously toward those with whom he disagrees, we were assured that all of us will work to make the country stronger, building bridges and work to improve the health of the nation as a whole.
Realizing that our country is at a crossroads in many ways, but particularly with regard to governance and financial accountability, the President made clear that he has heard the voices of the citizens, acknowledging that their efforts will not go unheeded by those who control the pursestrings and laws of these United States.
His words are quoted here exactly; no words have been added. This is his speech, which has been shortened for clarity:
"Good evening.... the American people have... seen enormous demonstrations.... We've borne witness to the beginning of a new chapter in the history of a great country...the United States..... throughout this period, we've stood for a set of core principles.
"I want to commend... the professionalism and patriotism.... shown thus far...
"...we stand for universal values, including the rights of the ... people to freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, and the freedom to access information. Once more, we've seen the incredible potential for technology to empower citizens and the dignity of those who stand up for a better future. And going forward, the United States will continue to stand up for democracy and the universal rights that all human beings deserve....
.....the status quo is not sustainable and.... a change must take place....The voices of the ..... people tell us that this is one of those moments; this is one of those times.
..the process must include a broad spectrum of voices and opposition.... It should lead to elections that are free and fair. And it should result in a government that's not only grounded in democratic principles, but is also responsive to the aspirations of the... people.
"Throughout this process, the United States will continue to extend the hand of partnership and friendship....
"Over the last few days, the passion and the dignity that has been demonstrated by the people.... has been an inspiration to people around the world....and to all those who believe in the inevitability of human freedom.
"To the people ...., I want to be clear: We hear your voices. I have an unyielding belief that you will determine your own destiny and seize the promise of a better future for your children and your grandchildren. And I say that as someone who is committed to... the United States....
"There will be difficult days ahead. Many questions... remain....But I am confident that the people....will find those answers. That truth can be seen in the sense of community in the streets. It can be seen in the mothers and fathers embracing soldiers.
Thank you very much."What?
You say you don't remember hearing that speech, or even its intent, directed at the American people and those with whom the President of the United States disagrees?
Okay, I was just joshin' ya, which you already know by now.
This is NOT the message of the President of the United States to those who disagree with him, as evidenced by the growing legal insurrection of the tea partiers.
This was the (boiled down) message of the President of the United States to the Egyptian people who mean to be free.
Ooooohhh, you say.
THIS is the message of the President of the United States, who is prepared to go to "hand to hand combat" to those who disagree with him (Gateway Pundit):
** Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”
** Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!”
** Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
** Obama to His Mercenary Army: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”
** Obama on the private sector: “We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“

** Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean “hand to hand combat”
** Obama to lib supporters: “It’s time to Fight for it.”
** Obama to Latino supporters: “Punish your enemies.”
Does the latter message seem counter to American principles? Oh, but it's politics, some argue.
Just politics.
Isn't the former speech "just politics" too?
The question is: Which does this president believe and for which country?
Which?
