A distorted world view

  Once again we have some absurd circumstances being protested by leftists. Those on the left accuse tea partiers, many of whom are elderly, of being potentially violent and yet turn their eyes away when leftists mock the condition of a sexually assaulted and beaten newsreporter; they turn their eyes away when leftists call a Black Republican among other slurs.
  This is indicative of a truly distorted world view, an inability to see things the way they really are. Those on the hard left and the hard right will always see things differently. Once in a while, for a few moments, we might share the same opinions, but those are rare occasions.
  We have a great example of those who aren't really seeing things the way they are.
  For example, a few Congresspersons have gone to DC thinking that they aren't going to stay there forever, as the forefathers believed. 
  Unlike Harry Reid, whose house in Nevada has been pretty much abandoned so that he can live like a king at the Ritz in the DC area, Congressman Jason Chaffetz has chosen to live in his office rather than settle into luxury and plan on spending his life in DC.

  Now leftists have their knives out  are gunning for  are criticizing Chaffetz and those who live in their offices in Congress. They say Chaffetz is robbing taxpayers of paying rent--that it's another salary benefit he should be declaring on his income tax return.
  Forget about Geithner and Obama administrators who haven't even paid taxes at all. That's not a problem. 
  Let's go after the frugal ones. Here's a bit of Larry O'Donnell's complaints against Chaffetz over at the Daily Caller:

Congressman, you have seized, you have illegally seized from the federal taxpayer a personal income benefit that saves you the rent money that you would pay in Washington like all of your fellow congressmen who are responsible, who pay rent in Washington. How much money do you save by not paying rent in Washington? Would you say you save $20,000 a year off your $175,000 salary?”

“Do you declare that savings as income as you are legally obliged to do or are you sleeping in your office as a tax criminal?”

“You are deriving additional personal income of your $174,000 of House income you get to save more of it because you sleep in the office. Have you declared that additional income benefit on your tax return with a dollar figure?”

  Now this, my friends, is a distorted world view.
  Another example that comes to mind is the leftists slobbering over the prospect of a Gabby Giffords run for Jon Kyl's seat.
  The woman was shot through the brain in a violent attack a few weeks ago; she is struggling to recover, seems to be making excellent progress, but is far from recovered, yet leftists are propping her up to run for a seat.
  Now, mind you, someone like Christine O'Donnell is mocked as a candidate (I know, I know, just hear me out) but leftists are proposing that someone who suffered a traumatic brain injury and whose prognosis for advancement is largely as yet unknown is an excellent candidate to run for the Senate.
  How tasteless is this. How does it make sense. How opportunistic is this.
  Because of the sympathy the public has for her as a somewhat moderate Democrat, the pols think she'd win, which is probably true.
  Apparently winning is all that matters, not the life of a human being struggling just to return to normal, to walk without aid, to read and talk and walk as she did before she was so brutally attacked.
  There is a complete disconnect between reality and politics, sometimes.
  Being partisan, I guess, means you can't applaud people who do the right thing. Being partisan, I guess, means you put politics above humanity.
  Some Democrats are hushing that talk, and with good reason, if only for partisan reasons.
  You look kinda heartless, ya know?
