One year ago, I was humbled to receive the Nobel Peace Prize -- an award that speaks to our highest aspirations, and that has been claimed by giants of history and courageous advocates who have sacrificed for freedom and justice. He goes on to prove he's really humble, as the WE reveals.
Then, if you were lucky enough to have witnessed the presser with Clinton expounding on why the tax bill was a good deal to convince recalcitrant liberals, his face growing ever redder as he pontificated and generally wallowed in the slop of the limelight, you might have noticed the current president standing off at the side looking quizzically, and, one might even observe, condescendingly, on Bubba, whose reach to the people doesn't compare to The One Who Will Turn Back the Waters.
Remarkably, The One tolerated Bubba's persuasive speech because, according to the expression on his face, he believed that Bubba would in some way advantage him.
But Bubba would not stop talking. On and on he blathered.
Finally the press dared to ask a question. What advice did you give to the current president of the United States?
Bubba didn't want to share the confidential moments he had had with The One, so he deflected, saying it would be up to The One to share those pearls of wisdom, who promptly PROMPTLY retorted, "I've kept the First Lady waiting and must flee to my next party," turned on his heel and almost ran out of the room.
Very ungracious.
It was remarkable really. Embarrassing. As if The One Whose Ego Must Not Be Mentioned couldn't stand to share the room with someone popular.
Just sayin.'
