Exception demanded: piercings

Did you know there's a church named Church of Body Modifications?
This church has 3500 members nationwide; one member is a 14 year old teenager whose school forbids body piercing.
The girl and her mother, a single parent, have demanded that the high school freshman be allowed to wear a nose stud which has improved her self image and esteem (because that's the most important thing for a student, right? Better self image) and she feels very "spiritual" because of the piercing.
More and more exceptions are being demanded across the nation for various ailments/conditions/situations/desires as citizens rights are determined to be more important than the group's.
Oddly these exceptions/rights rarely seem to include conservatives, Christians, Catholics or Jews.
Of course, rarely do those groups demand the kind of exceptions required by other more, er, liberal citizens.
Read the high school student's story here.
The church's website can be found here. No pictures of the hooks and cuttings they do during church services to become more spiritual.
Go here to see the world's craziest piercings
Just for fun, here's a website with pictures of the world's craziest tattoos.
  Warning: strong stomach acid reaction.
