Mexico: Mexican violence is US's fault

Apparently politicians in the US aren't the only out of touch, insane, in denial people around. Others exist in Mexico. You won't believe this. Mexican mayors are complaining that when the US sends Mexican criminals back over the border, these criminals are ruining their towns and causing all kinds of terrible things to happen. The US needs to stop apparently. First The Blaze:
San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders joined the mayors of Tijunana, Ciudad Juarez, Nogales and Nuevo Laredo last week to discuss cross-border issues.  Among them, the Mexcian mayors complained that America’s deportation of convicted criminal illegal immigrants back to the Mexican border is contributing to the recent rise in violent crimes, including kidnapping and other crimes related to the drug trade.
Then the commentary over at Gateway Pundit:
How dare we demand that Mexico take possession of its own citizens!  Of course, the increase in violence couldn’t possibly be attributed to the drug cartels and the inability of the Mexican government to successfully combat them.  Especially since the increase in violence is spreading throughout Mexico.  It’s easier to simply blame the U.S.  Perhaps the Mexican mayors are taking their cue from President Obama.  President Obama doesn’t seem to be pleased with the U.S. either.  He did invite Mexico’s President Calderon to address Congress, where he blasted Arizona’s  new immigration law as a “terrible” endorsement of racial profiling.

Green jobs

It's a joke, right, that people like John Kerry complain about the little guy standing in front of all those great green jobs promised to replace the jobs The One is removing from this country through moving oil rigs in Brazil but stopping them in the USA. Just love watching him talk through and down his nose at everyone when money will never ever be a problem for him, as it is for the "small people" who will have to pay more for their heat, gas and energy usage. Over at The Hill:
“We have an electorate that doesn’t always pay that much attention to what’s going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what’s happening," Kerry said last week, as reported in the Boston Globe.
The problem for John Kerry is that the electorate is too well informed, not underinformed.  This is the arrogance of the ruling class.
They promise green jobs as if there is some wonderful panacea in that industry for all the jobs that we are losing because of ideas like Kerry's and Obama's in removing traditional energy sources.
In fact, green jobs aren't all they are cracked up to be. Frank Beckmann has addressed this issue on WJR many times. A dissertation about the problem can be found here.
Pajamas Media has more by Christopher Horner:

As predicted was inevitable, today the Spanish newspaper La Gaceta runs with a full-page article fessing up to the truth about Spain’s “green jobs” boondoggle, which happens to be the one naively cited by President Obama no less than eight times as his model for the United States. It is now out there as a bust, a costly disaster that has come undone in Spain to the point that even the Socialists admit it, with the media now in full pursuit.

September surprises

UPDATE: More on the Whitman situation over at NRO. Apparently it was ILLEGAL to fire someone if the employer receives a no-match letter. Krikorian at NRO:

And even if Whitman was sent a no-match letter, and her illegal-alien maid actually gave it to her, here’s a paragraph from the letter (emphasis added):
You should not use this letter to take any adverse action against an employee just because his or her Social Security number appears on the list, such as laying off, suspending, firing , or discriminating against the individual. Doing so could, in fact, violate state or federal law and subject you to legal consequences.

No one's surprised when democrats get ugly. The incident with Palladino in New York is a good example of how NOT to handle the press. Though it is understandable that Palladino was furious over the press's treatment of his daughter, he shouldn't be threatening people and losing his temper. Sure, he's a colorful figure but he has to get used to shmoozing the press. While we are enjoying the fact that the tea partiers are straight talkers and unpolished, tea party candidates need to learn how to handle the annoying cockroaches that are the press.
OTOH, Gloria Allred's treatment of Whitman is despicable. Allred and her type all want illegals to become legal so what's the problem with Whitman having paid this woman's salary for nine years, thinking she was legal? Is the problem that Whitman fired her when she found out the woman was illegal? The firing is required by law. So what exactly is the argument Allred has for doing what she did?
The woman deceived Whitman and Whitman fired her. Malkin takes a hard line and says Whitman should have known because she received notices of "no-match" from Social Security.
The Whitman household, contrary to the candidate’s flat denials, did in fact receive the red-flag letter six years ago. Contrary to Whitman campaign supporters’ insinuations that the maid stole the letter, she was apparently in legal, legitimate possession of it. Whitman’s husband gave it to her and passed the buck.
Hugh Hewitt had an interview with Allred over this matter. Read what Allred did when he pursued the issue with her over at Townhall:

Allred hung up on me when it became obvious that I simply wasn't going to allow her to repeat her allegations without establishing first a theory of the law under which Whitman could be understood to have done anything wrong.
So the maid, whom we may assume was trusted by the family since she worked for them for nine years, gets fired, goes crying in front of cameras that they were mean to her when they fired her and is now angry about what? They shouldn't have fired her? They shouldn't have hired her in the first place? Allred says the job was really hard and a "nightmare." The maid cries that she couldn't get all the work done in 15 hours a week at $23 a week but they wouldn't give her more money or get her an immigration attorney when she finally told them the truth.
Huh. I guess she wasn't too happy to receive $23 an hour for unskilled labor when she was in the country illegally and had presented false and deceitful papers to her employer.
Here's the video if you can't stand to watch the whining, and the simpering and Allred leaning over and hugging the poor abused woman.
  Just sayin.'

A better video is over at TMZ, if you can stand to watch the whole thing. To really get the context though, you need to watch it. Link to TMZ here.

A Christian by choice?

What on earth can a man mean when he says he's a Christian by choice? What person is a Christian by force? That isn't what our religion is about, unlike certain other religions. This comment betrays something about Obama about which I do not want to speculate. Over at News Busters:

During a townhall meeting at a New Mexico residence, President Obama proclaimed that he was a "Christian by choice." He said that he came to the faith recently, believing that the Christian precepts of "being my brother's and sister's keeper" and "treating others as they would treat me" defined the kind of life he wanted to live.
Meanwhile, back at the backyard rodeo where The One is continuing to divide the country by excoriating Republicans, conservatives, Fox News, Fox News watchers and anyone who disagrees with him, Obama gets caught in the bull's horns.

The useful idiots rally

We have warring factions here. On one hand, we have the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert factions agitating for a rally in DC to 'restore sanity.' You'd have to be a fool or college student to go to that. Though these two guys have a lock on most kids' reception of the news and there is a sort of fanaticism that goes along with watching them, the passion behind the tea party movement is not there.
On the other side, you have the one nation rally meeting this Saturday, which will undoubtedly have numerous passionate members attending from all across the United States. This will probably be well-attended and lefties will claim that it is a refutation of the Beck rally. Yet there are over 200 organizations involved in this rally and there's a lot of money behind this rally. Just look at the Google ads.
Gee, do ya THINK they'll have more people than one radio/tv guy? Do ya THINK the union thugs'll show up to scare off the taxpayers?
Yet who cares? We have nothing to do with that.
And who cares if they call us racists? Who cares if they claim we "drove the car into the ditch"? Who cares? We aren't monolithic and we aren't controllable.
The people attending those rallies have their own self interests for going. This Saturday the motivation will be control, selfishness, thuggery. Oct 30 will be silliness, useful fools. They do not understand that the Beck rally wasn't about controlling people and it wasn't about hate or foolishness.
They do not understand the peacefulness of the "movement" and they do not choose to understand the great concern we have for this nation.
As conservatives, the last thing we want to do is get into somebody's face and start screaming. It's happened at townhall meetings only because the people of this country have been pushed to their limits and the ruling elite have continued to act like they aren't the ones responsible for ruining this country and putting it so deeply in debt.

Morning roundup

Once again, the Obama machine was twisting arms to get people to show up for a planned appearance. How many students turned out to see him yesterday in Wisconsin? There is this little interesting nugget at the Badger Herald:
Many people thought the location was too cramped and Madison had more desirable locations to offer, such as the top of Bascom Hill or the Capitol.
“I thought that with the construction and the overall small size of Library Mall somewhere like the Kohl Center would have been better suited for the event,” Callan said.
This little article also mentions that a whopping 30 people showed up afterward to discuss the scintillating appearance of The One.
Fox News says the line stretched for a mile. Hm.
Meanwhile it appears Alan Grayson's seat is in danger, (PLEASE!) with his opponent 43-36 in the lead. Over at Sunshine State News are the details. In fact, it appears Grayson is raising money for his opponent Daniel Webster.

NBPP: I'ma SLAVE

Once more, "King" Samir makes a fool of himself in front of a camera. He seems to have a real problem with da JEWS. In fact, he makes a very clever (not) reference to the "Fox Jews." Then he goes on to complain that he's a slave. What is so tragic about this individual is that he undoubtedly has no sense of true history and all the people who really suffered as slaves, nor does he have a sense of the proud accomplishments of many of his race because he is so consumed by hate and a need to lord it over others.
Here's his MySpace page, where he refers to himself as a "field nigga." Apparently slaves now have time to illustrate their MySpace pages with cheesy special effects videos, record rap music, and have numerous glam pictures taken of their imprisoned selves in various provocative and menacing poses, something 19th century American slaves would have enjoyed themselves in respite of their cotton picking in 100 degree weather. Parading around in pseudo military garb would have been fun compared to what they had to do.

A message to democrats: Immigration's no joke

Anyone who witnessed the Colbert debacle couldn't possibly see it as a positive development or constructive conversation. It was an embarrassment and a travesty. Malkin has a story on this along with the following video:

Cocktail party Republicans: who's next in line?

It's funny how the political parties have changed over the years. In the fifties and a bit later, true democrats, in general, seemed to be loving family people, loyal to the country, liberal in their viewpoint as far as being kind and generous to their fellow citizens. Many of them voted for Reagan. Republicans, otoh, have also been hard-working blue collar folks, those who believed in conservative values and pretty much voted the way their parents did.
Now democrats have become liberal, liberal, liberal and their party's been overrun by communists, code pinkos, union thugs, con artists, college elitists and rich people who want to control the lives of the "small people." Republicans have become a bunch of old white guys standing in line for their turn at the trough or the presidency, professional politicians. Some are rich country clubbers who don't want to dirty their hands with the likes of the tea partiers or their candidates, some of whom are rough and took 5 or so years to get through state schools or community colleges.
There's a war going on now, and it's not necessarily between democrats and tea partiers.
It's between non-politicians and professional politicians who've become accustomed to being treated like lords and ladies, and who think they have a right to order others around, to control every aspect of the small people's lives (like the accusation made so frequently against Christians in the past).
In fact, it is true now that liberals are the ones who want to destroy independence, freedom and privacy. Liberal progressives are the ones who are making all the rules, right down to the last thousandth page of regulations.
The fight for the Republican presidential nomination thus becomes a harder fight than the one against Obama in the 2012 elections.
Some of the most scintillating writing on the web about this issue can be found over at Hill Buzz, the gay Chicago liberals who now despise the democrat party for any number of reasons. Here's a bit from their latest article about Mitt Romney's presidential bid. The whole article is quite insightful. Read it here:
At cocktail parties in large cities across the country, these guys in their blazers, with women in their best Ann Taylor, get together and scorn the Tea Party and its grassroots energy.  They don’t believe the Republican Party should be run from the bottom up, because they enjoy being in the Union League or City Club looking down on the rabble from their penthouse view.  Scotch on the rocks in one hand, with their resumes in the other, these Cocktail Party Republicans see political campaigns as networking opportunities to advance their careers and afford them opportunities to get better, more important jobs in the future by way of the political connections they’ll make if Mittens Romney is the nominee.

More jobs at risk

Why are more jobs at risk? Because of the one man job wrecking crew. EPA is at the bottom of it, naturally. Read over Hot Air:
Again, no facility in the US meets the standards proposed by the EPA.  Imposition of these standards would at least temporarily close almost 20 percent of all American cement producers and reduce long-term cement production from 8-15%.  The cement that will be needed for construction demand will have to be imported, primarily from China, which is expanding their cement production using environmental standards significantly below current American standards.  In other words, we can expect more pollution, not less — just outsourced along with the jobs in the industry.

More voting concerns

Deroy Murdock at NRO has a piece about the number of states which have serious irregularities in their voter registration rolls, in addition to professing the inability to get votes out to military voters in time. (Convenient, is it not, that all these conditions benefit the democrats and the current administration.) It appears some states have over %100 voter registration, and lots and lots of dead voters who have never been purged from the voter rolls. Read it here:
In yet another outrage, the Voting Section is static while the rolls of at least 16 states evidently list ineligible voters, including non-residents, disqualified felons, and — yes — dead people. Justice’s response? “ZZZZZZzzzzzz……”

Looking for someone who cares

Well, the democrats are helping people who can't afford homes buy them. Have they done anything to stop the sub-prime loans? No. They've just taken them over. Read about it over at the New York Post. It seems the intent was always just to take it over, not to clean up the mess.
The picture available at this website, The News of the World, is tragic. Like so many things these days, everybody knows what is going to happen; it is inevitable, unless someone who cares intervenes.
Meanwhile, the always in-touch John Kerry is getting his share of payback from various commentators for blaming the voters for being uninformed.  In truth, voters are probably better informed than any time in history, so naturally, democrats are trying to censor the internet. And, of course, the bill is poorly worded, because who reads the darn things anyway?
Another democrat skips a debate, leaving Pat Toomey and Ted Koppel staring at an empty chair.
Mexico poses more of a threat than Iran.
Why is Barney Fwank being so nice, it is wondered? Is it because he's worried?
In a bid to combat apathy and flame enthusiasm, The One is still scrounging for college kids to come faint at his speech today. Interesting. Sort of.
  Meh.
  Maybe not.

Another lying ad

So this is what you do. You cherry pick a phrase from an opponent's speech; you take it completely out of context. You put it into your own narrated video and you have your opponent speak exactly the opposite of what he originally said, based on your narration. So what kind of a candidate for Congress would do this? Alan Grayson. Of course. Yes, it's despicable but this is the way they play ball. Watch and see:

Government snooping comes to email?

They told me if Republicans were in charge, they'd try to wiretap your communications!
  Huh!
Well, it so happens that Obama and his cronies want to wiretap ALL your electronic communications, including instant messages, email, Skype, Facebook and all social networking. This may require software developers to rewrite their software to make it amenable to government snooping. Read about it at Eweek.

Scanner vans on the street

This isn't sci-fi or paranoia. This is real. These vans are on the street now. You can see the Google references here. This article is over at Forbes which explains the scanner vans, which can see through houses and clothes:
Privacy-conscious travelers may cringe to think of the full-body scanners finding their way into dozens of airport checkpoints around the country. Most likely aren't aware that the same technology, capable of seeing through walls and clothes, has also been rolling out on U.S. streets.

Monday morning roundup: hypocrites and global cooling

For some reason, some of us get a perverse pleasure from reading how certain people are extreme hypocrites regarding telling us how to live while living themselves lives of conspicuous consumption. Noemie Emery has an excellent article at Weekly Standard regarding the many eco-hypocrites and this is new. It's not about Prince Charles flying around the world lecturing people not to fly around the world or Sting's wife flying in lettuce daily from France. This is about democrats:
"The very rich are different from you and me,” F. Scott Fitzgerald observed, eliciting the famous rejoinder from Ernest Hemingway, “Yes, they have more money.” Today he might add that they are apt to be Democrats, often exceedingly liberal Democrats, fond of talking of “fairness” and equity as they rake in what seems like vast sums of money, and spend immense sums on themselves. Confronted with tales of their zillionaire populists, liberals claim (a) that the way that they vote counts for more than the way they spend money; and (b) that many great names in political history have lived well and had money themselves. The last point is true, but there is a difference in degree and in kind that has only come recently. Let us consider the facts.
Bookworm has commentary about this article, which is where I first read it.
What is new, however, about all these new nouveaus is that they espouse redistribution for everyone else.  Having amassed their obscene wealth and shown it off for all it’s worth, they’re working as hard as they can to make sure that they’re the last of the breed.  When all their redistributionist political policies have gone into play, no one is going to be wealthy any more.
I forgot to mention that the New Black Panther Party also met with the stinky president of Iran; if the NBPP hadn't tried to stop white voters from voting, does anyone really think Stinky would have wanted to meet with them?
SNL had a skit that hit Christine O'Donnell. Ain't that funny, writing scripts about masturbation and a female candidate for Congress riding off on a broom at the end? Ain't that just a hoot? Almost as funny as Bill Maher is these days, bitterly scorning anyone who believes in Christ or votes conservative. Gee, wonder if they would have written such a thing about a.....you know how that story ends.
Get this: a "journalist" has discovered that soldiers are rationing ice creams to Guantanamo Bay detainees. Only one apiece!!! OMG!!!! RATIONING!!! THEY"RE ALL GOING TO DIE OF STARVATION!!!!!!
Too bad those same "journalists" can't see the health care rationing in England and already headed this way. Oh, well, that's only Americans.
Barney Frank's opponent needs to do a money bomb, taking advantage of the momentum. Why was Bill Clinton campaigning for Fwank yesterday? Worried?
James Delingpole has discovered that the tide is turning for the AGW alarmists. He notes that the hysteria has turned from global warming to global disruption to ....global cooling. How can that pin that on carbon? Over at The Telegraph (why is it always the British papers that reveal this?) Note the reference of concern below:
The 58th Bilderberg Meeting will be held in Sitges, Spain 3 – 6 June 2010. The Conference will deal mainly with Financial Reform, Security, Cyber Technology, Energy, Pakistan, Afghanistan, World Food Problem, Global Cooling, Social Networking, Medical Science, EU-US relations.
The poor loser RINOs need to go away. Mike Castle, running as a third party candidate? Please.
  Another stolen election here:
In November, rest assured, the Somali vote and that of others of dubious citizenship will be turned against Republicans. There is a way for readers to fight this. Call your local Election Board today. Sign up to be a judge or a poll watcher. Ask for an inner-city precinct. And make sure you know the law better than your Democratic counterpart does. It won't be hard.

Ahmahdinejad stinks...literally

Okay, so the delicate writers over at the NY Post noted that Ahmadinejad stank up the hotel with his "food," but also note that he wore the same suit and shirt for 6 days.
Also noted was the fact that Ahmad spent quite a bit of time with Farrakhan, the towering intellect who says he was picked up by a spaceship and had a nice conversation and who has had his share of controversy.
What has received even less notice is that picture over at Atlas Shrugged of Michelle Obama and "Minister" Farrakhan's wife. Of course, their homes in Chicago are in the same neighborhood.

The differences between Beck and One Nation rallies

Other than the obvious, Byron York sums up quite nicely the differences between the Restoring Honor rally and the anti-American rally at the Washington Examiner. The rally, which combines a variety of noxious anti-American shill groups who glorify trouble and work only for themselves, will most likely be large, borne in school buses from various districts across the country. Read over at the Washington Examiner:
First, the Beck rally was essentially the work of one person, albeit one with a big megaphone in talk radio and cable news; the One Nation rally will be the product of the combined organizing power of the country's largest unions. And second, while the Beck rally was self-consciously non-political, the One Nation gathering will be frankly partisan. "It's time to stand up and march for the change we voted for," say organizers.

More education talk: Waiting For Superman

All the buzz this fall weekend is the new film Waiting For Superman. Everyone's excited: parents are supporting it, media are buzzing it and teachers and their unions are claiming it's false.
The issue around this film and The Lottery is that charter school students do better than in public schools, particularly in hotbeds like DC, NYC and California. Poor minority parents in inner cities, in particular, want to have their child's name drawn for a seat in one of the few charter schools in their city.
Obama has made clear his stance on charter schools; one of the first things he did was to withdraw (translate: CUT) government tuition funding for children to go to charter schools, including the school his children attend.
Bloomberg has an article from 2009 on this. It's heartbreaking and the film The Lottery might as well have been scripted around the children whose tuition Obama cut:
A spending law signed by Obama last month will end a program that gives low-income parents tuition vouchers of as much as $7,500 a year to send their children to private schools. Among 54 participating schools are Sidwell Friends, where Sasha and Malia Obama are students, and Ambassador Baptist Church Christian School, where Sherrise Greene sends her two daughters and had wanted to enroll Marquis.
The Libertarian Reason has a video on families who wanted to remain part of the program and its effect on their lives. For them, it's a matter of survival, both physical and sociological. Obama himself was the "recipient of a scholarship" for school choice.
Note also the pledge Obama made to do what's best for children. More on school choice:
Conservatives can scream all they want with these education issues, but it seems unless liberals make movies such as The Lottery and Waiting For Superman, no one listens and the issue is considered simply a partisan one. The truth is that if you seek truth, the party shouldn't matter when it comes to important issues.
The gentleman who spoke in the video above speaks to failure of the educational system, addressing problems we have avoided for years and having the backbone to do what we know we've needed to do for years.
That means this: the unions need to face their problems, fire people who don't deserve to teach, quit covering for issues and people who are part of the problem, and quit bullying the public into accepting their wage increases without results.
  • Yes, teaching is an important job.
  • Yes, teachers should be treated with respect and should be paid well enough to make it a real career.
  • No, if you are going into teaching to make money you shouldn't be doing it.
  • No, you don't produce or sell anything as a teacher so you need to be realistic about how much you get paid.
  • Yes, tenure is a good idea to save careers in the face of unreasonable angry parents, some of whom happen to be on the board, but, no, tenure should not be granted unless a teacher has proven he/she can cut it in the classroom for the long term, not just long enough to get tenure.

When education unions join with communists and code pink, we have a problem.
  It'd help if:
  • teacher unions didn't promote Rules for Radicals
  • teachers didn't bond with communists to march on Washington
  • teachers didn't advocate social issues over teaching in the classroom
  • education leaders didn't continually drive prices up, creating an education "bubble"
  • educators didn't protect the rights of those who hate this country, while ridiculing and isolating those who love it
  • they'd quit seeing children by their color, rather than their character
  • they'd quit paying for everything and everyone, to the detriment of those who are truly talented and deserve grants based on that talent and not skin color
  • they'd quit thinking taxpayers need to fund exorbitant pensions in a system that is going bust
  • they'd quit tapping the feds for partying money
National teacher unions have become simply a political and economic bludgeon, rather than a "union" to protect the rights of teachers in the classroom.
Michelle Rhee, a star of this film, is trying to do these very things to reform the DC schools. Teachers are fighting her and their unions have spent over $100,000 to defeat the mayor who hired her. Now the future of her employment is in doubt, as the teachers had their way in electing Gray, who is suddenly going on a "listening tour" to figure out what to do with her.
He might try going to see the new film to help make his decision.
A theme of this film is that "a great teacher is a work of art." This is true. But what, conversely, is a bad teacher then? And where does that teacher fit in the system? Or, better still, why does that teacher fit into the system?

Fun with new democrat logo

It seems the opposition is having fun with the new democrat logo. While the guys over at HillBuzz suspect the new site where this logo appeared (www.Democrats.org) is really a parody of a democrat website, others have gone bananas with illustrating the various other ways the new logo could appeal to the average voter. Here's a roundup, some from Hill Buzz, from Michelle Malkin and one from Weasel Zippers. It IS really funny that the logo looks like a toilet. Just sayin.'

Warning to Republicans; all the talk has been the last couple days that establishment Republicans are going to try to stop reform from taking place once the new group comes in. It's just a matter of time (very short time) before the mob comes after you, too.
