Obama: Tea partiers didn't want me to do anything about oil spill

So The One gives an interview yesterday, which Byron York eviscerates here; the gist of it is that The Lightbringer is whining again that he can't "use a straw" to suck up the oil and anyway if he HAD tried to fix the department in charge of this mess he COULDN'T have because, um, Republicans (who are in a minor minority) would have, um, tried to stop him, or something, IF he had tried. And, NO, Alisyn Camarota, Obama does NOT have a point saying that Republicans wouldn't have let him fix the problem. THEY ARE IN THE MINORITY and overseeing little things like oil spills are exactly what we have governments for.
But on to the tea partiers. This is what he says about the tea partiers' "role" in preventing him from foreseeing this problem from Politico:

The president also implied that anti-big government types such as tea party activists were being hypocritical on the issue.
“Some of the same folks who have been hollering and saying ‘do something’ are the same folks who, just two or three months ago, were suggesting that government needs to stop doing so much,” Obama said. “Some of the same people who are saying the president needs to show leadership and solve this problem are some of the same folks who, just a few months ago, were saying this guy is trying to engineer a takeover of our society through the federal government that is going to restrict our freedoms.”
NO, Lightbringer, we believe in SMALL EFFICIENT government that does not encroach on our independent personal lives. Do you think oil washing up on our beaches encroaches on our liberty? We would say, YES, take care of it, just as we want government to take care of roads, the military, THAT sort of thing. Get it? "That government is best that governs LEAST," as the real man said.
