If nothing else, this proves a couple of points that critics have made all along. The mandates are nothing more than a way to get the young to create a proxy welfare state by forcing them into a usurious insurance model. It does nothing to reduce actual costs, and in fact makes cost increases both more likely and more amplified.

NY Times discovers how expensive govt health care will be
Hot Air explicates the NY Times article on how expensive Obama-un-care will be. Ed takes apart the betrayal of the NY Times to its readers. I think there's a broader motive at work here. Now that the health care bill is passed, what is The One trying to do? Why, of course, he's going to go after a new tax. The VAT is what most talking heads are speculating. Now how does this fit in with the NY Times's sudden burst of transparency and thoughtfulness? Of course, they're shilling for the administration again. They're creating the case for how much MONEY the government is going to NEED to pull off this massive boondoggle. Ed over at Hot Air has the links and commentary:
