Detroit wants more money

Yeah, that's right. 25% high school graduation rate, voted for the Democrat party 95% for the last 50 years and the place is referred to around the world as how NOT to do things. Their unions are breaking the city. There are no grocery stores in the city of Detroit. The average property value is something like a thousand bucks. But more money will fix everything. The Blog Prof has the story. They want more of YOUR tax dollars.

Uh - hasn't Detroit been under Democrat hegemonic domination for something like 50 years? 2 1/2 generations now? Isn't everyone in such an environemnt supposed to live with unicorns under rainbows at this point? Gee - what could have possibly gone wrong???
The mayor, who was elected in May and won a four-year term in November, has been to the White House three times in recent months and has met with Cabinet secretaries of treasury, transportation, housing and urban development, commerce and labor. "This city will not survive without federal support in a big way," Bing told The Detroit News in a recent interview. "Our range is somewhere between a half a billion and a billion dollars. I'm prepared to ask for what we're going to need."
Now let me get this straight. Detroit just cheated its way out of a $300 million budget hole by selling bonds essentially mortgaging its future to keep the gravy train limping along for city unions. If they cut $300 million from the budget, wouldn't they essentially give themselves almost $1 billion over this and teh next 2 fiscal years? Minus the graft? Nah - that actually makes too much sense.
