The advent of the Internet and new media technologies has rendered irrelevant the notion—first espoused by the Supreme Court—that the limited amount of radio bandwidth requires that the federal government intervene to ensure ‘fair’ distribution of broadcasting rights and capabilities. But the rise of the Internet as a force for political debate and opposition has the left worried.

Trying to kill talk radio and regulate the internet
It appears to be on its way...the diversity czars are calling for more "localism" on talk radio and federal regulation on the internet. While it is doubtful that even Obamatrons would support internet censorship (at least, to a great degree), talk radio is clearly in the sights of the administration. A year ago, it would be unthinkable that radio could be taken over by the feds, with the radio conglomerates forced to pay for NPR type programming. Now? Not so much. Read about it here:
