Obama Goes After The Gamers

I guess voters are where you find them. So team Obama is going where they play. The Obama campaign will chase down the voters who are playing games in their parents' basements. The ads are set to run across multiple video games, including Madden, Battleship, Tetris and Pogo.com. Whatever happened to Leisure Suit Larry? I guess he was, appropriately, a Clinton era phenomenon. According to game maker Electronic Arts in a survey (not a poll) conducted over the 2008 video game ad campaign, the company found that 50 percent of those were more likely to vote for Obama after seeing him in in-game ads. I'm sure there are many voters in battleground states that wish all political ad campaigns were run on video games.

DaTechGuy: Take heart, mateys. All is not lost.

  By now, most informed conservatives know that polling is really skewy. Here are some of the complaints about current polling:

• Pollsters oversample Democrats to get the small percentage advantage Obama usually enjoys
• Pollsters oversample women.
• Pollsters (talking to YOU, CBS) do not reveal their demographics.
• Pollsters call only land lines.
• Even if pollsters claim fairness in their demographic sampling, their demographic sampling is based on the 2008 breakdown. IOW, a breakdown that advantages Democrats.

Thus the polls become the news rather than simply reflect it. Frequent polls, such as the ones taken this last week during the absolutely disastrous world events and terrorist attacks on US interests, are "rock solid" supporting the clueless and impotent Obama.

For the last two weeks we have been treated to the narrative that Barack Obama is surging at the polls, Mitt Romney is in trouble and unless there is a massive change in direction it is all over. 

Simply put this is a lie. 

Of all the polls you have seen, there is one poll that has gotten no attention, it is a poll that has been taken monthly, it is a poll that Doug Ross spotted and promoted on his site. It is the Rasmussen Poll of party identification.

Free speech threatened by UN resolution

  So Obama is being legally threatened by the always peaceful Iranian regime by a resolution the US pushed in December to show respect for all religions. 
  Of course, this resolution hasn't helped Coptic Christians--or any Christians, for that matter--because its intended benefits are directed at the most peaceful religion in the world.

The so called voluntary removal of Nakoula Besseley Nakoula from his home in the middle of the night is not going down well. Roger Kimball of Pajamas Media says the above picture should cost Obama his job.

Rice Contradicts Libyan Government-Attack Not Premeditated-Movie to Blame

Libya's own leader, interim president Mohammed el-Megarif, has said that foreigners infiltrated Libya over the past few months and planned the attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans yet Ambassador Susan Rice asks us to believe that a YouTube video, not the failure of her and her administrations policy is responsible for the death of the 4 Americans. Keep in mind this is the same Susan Rice that who told the world that Muammar Gaddafi was providing Viagra to his troops to encourage rape, a transparent hoax which was eventually debunked.

So maybe every future post on YouTube will need governmental approval? Or will we just lock up those who post videos the government disapproves of?

Obamacare explained in one sentence

Romney campaign in Wood County disappoints

  Actually, the Romney campaign in Lucas AND Wood counties has disappointed many concerned citizens.
  Yesterday was Harrison Rally Day, the only yearly festival day by the city of Perrysburg.
  Thousands of people attend HRD, which features local musicians, food, arts and crafts and lots of booths for political, religious and business organizations.
  The Conservative Coalition was represented well.
  As was the Democrat Party, which had lots of signs, a bold sign that actually said the word "Democrats" on it.
  The Republican party was across the street with a booth and some local politicians' signs. No bold signs reading "Republicans."
  Romney signs?
  Nuh uh. They didn't have a one.
  Just as in 2010, they were "taking names" for Romney signs, claiming they had "run out" of signs.
  Later we heard from others that they never had any signs.
  So once again, we're disappointed in an opposition party to the Democrats actually having much of a face or presence in this part of the state, even though Wood County is important to winning Ohio.
  I mean, we can understand giving up on Lucas County to a degree since it varies little in its political persuasion.
  But Wood County?
  Come on.
  We can only hope that the 2012 elections prove to be reminiscent of the 2010 elections, regardless of the lack of party proficiency.

Obama yard sale illustrates the problem

  Obama and his team for reelection really have no shame.
  Tweeting a sale on sweatshirts as the bodies of the Ambassador to Libya and 3 others are returned home.
  Comparing his campaign workers to the Americans murdered by mobs overseas.
  Asking you to forego your wedding gifts and instead send the money to Obama.
  Michelle Obama, the notorious vacationer who's enjoyed 18 vacations on your dime, asks you to skip your pizza and send the money to her.
  Promoting a defenseless and partnerless Julia whose utter dependence on the state render her incompetent and unable to sustain her own life.
  Now Obama's campaign, which harasses followers several times a day for money, want you to have a YARD SALE this upcoming weekend.
  Here's the video promoting the yard sale idea, which the electioneers hope will inspire millions of Americans to take to their lawns, extolling the Golfer in Chief and selling their junk to the unsuspecting foolish buyer; you'll note the professional filming quality. They have Hollywood at their command, after all.

  As with all things Obama, however, there's always a pretty stinky body accompanying the Botoxed face.
  Like in this ad, where the one guy is shocked to see his own golf club for sale without permission at his neighbor's garage sale. 
  Yeah, that makes sense cuz that's exactly what's happening to all of us out here.
  We're shocked to see someone's selling off our country's assets without our knowledge or consent.

Weak-kneed Rahm caves to thugs?

  We may see the end of the Chicago teachers' strike today, it's being rumored.
  So what did they get?
  It appears at this hour that the teachers, already among the highest paid and most ineffective in the nation (and, from the WSJ: In addition, an arbitrator found this summer that Chicago's teachers got raises of 19%-46% over the past five years—not the fattest of economic times for most Americans), have secured a 24 percent raise and a stop to the teacher evaluation process.
  That would be 16% over four years, a 2% COLA every year for four years AND the usual step increases for every teacher.
  No one's saying being a teacher in Chicago is an easy job.
  But you'd think there'd be some accountability for making the big bucks but apparently tough boy Rahm Emanuel caved in this election year.
  Now there's fear that up to 120 schools will be closed to make this deal happen.
  Reuters refers to one such school in which gunfire can be heard during the school day:

 Thirty-one of those deaths have been in the neighborhood where Gresham Elementary school is located, up 19 percent from last year. Over the last two years 23 children ages 10 or younger have been killed in the Chicago crossfire, some of them while walking to or from school.

  Gresham is on academic probation; in fact, for some odd reason, people are moving out of Chicago and away from such schools as Gresham, out to the suburbs or into charter schools.
 Thus the possibility of the closings of many district schools.
 It sure looks like, at this hour, the thugs have won. 

The nanny state's ominous face

  And so we jump across the pond to the town of Swansea where a poor fellow happened to be meandering around town and into a pub with a couple of tools of his trade in his back pocket.
  He's an electrician who just finished a job at a shop and thought he'd bounce on over to a local pub, where he drank a few pints, got happy and then was tased by the local police with 50,000 volts because some suspicious nanny spotted the tools in his back pocket and called the authorities who jumped him and sank a few volts in his back because he had been walking unsteadily.
  What were the vicious tools of his trade held in his back pocket?
  Two small screwdrivers and a small knife.
  The case was ultimately dropped because of the inconsistencies in testimony of the police who tased the electrician.
  Once the culture walks down the road of attempting to take obsessive care of even those who won't care for themselves, of minding every person's business, of imposing a second bill of rights that will assure everyone such things as good paying jobs...
  Once we walk down this road, collapse is ultimately guaranteed.
  When  homeowners are fined or imprisoned for defending their own homes from marauders, murderers and burglars, when some of the strictest gun laws in the world are passed, when scaremongering becomes part of a government's standard procedure for passing laws, then the passage of any law restricting or assuring anything is possible.
  This is the face of the nanny state: fed and "protected" by the government, there is no end to the demands for more restrictions, more free stuff, more "rights" for all and more laws limiting freedom. 
  Hiding behind the masks of those folks who want to pass those "well-meaning" laws and enticing government handouts are hiding some very ugly faces whose primary goals include controlling every aspect of human existence.
  Read this among the comments at the article at the Daily Mail about the electrician:

I wonder what the court's/public's response would have been if this man hadn't been challenged, and had then gone on to jam a screwdriver into the back of a young mother's head in the middle of Peacocks? [SNIP] walking drunk through a shopping centre with a screwdriver sticking out of his pocket is a very stupid thing to do. In this instance he meant no harm, but he could just as easily been a nutter, so police were right to challenge him, even if they were extreme afterwards. Maybe the man won't be so stupid next time.

  No running with scissors for that commenter! Think of what COULD have happened if....!
  Fear rules!
  So pass a law restricting the size of a cola drink.
  Pass a seatbelt law because someone might get hurt.
  Pass a law fining profanity. 
  Call for the prosecution of a filmmaker who made a really stupid film.
  After all, you never know what could happen!
  It all seems so innocuous at first. This or that would be good so people can't hurt themselves, won't gain weight or won't offend others.
  Where all this leads has a Kristallnachtian air to it. 
  Where that leads, only the nannies know.

Obama's Jewish Support Lowest for a Democrat Since Jimmy Carter

Here is another one of those embarrassing comparisons to Jimmy Carter. One must go all the way back to 1980 to find a Democratic presidential nominee with worse polling among Jews. Obama got 71% of the Jewish vote in 2008 but is now down to 59% according to a Tripp poll. Carter got only 45% of the Jewish vote in 1980. No Democrat has ever won the White House with that low a share of the vote. The Democratic candidates who scored that low, Carter in 1980, Dukakis, Mondale, McGovern, Adlai Stevenson, were all losers who went on to lose the election.
It's probably better to think of the Jewish vote as an indicator of election outcome rather than a decider however in swing states with large Jewish populations, such as Florida, it could decide the election. Among Catholics Obama has a 2 point lead 46% to 44% another low that compares to Jimmy Carter in 1980.

Innocence of Muslims Film Maker Taken From His Home

Were it not for the loss of four American lives the past week would resemble a Peter Sellers comedy. The White House and Hillary Clinton by blaming the implosion of the administration's Middle East policy on a movie made by a man named Sam Bacile who is really named Nakoula Besseley Nakoula is in effect admitting that Nakoula has more control over Mid Eastern policy than they do. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Martin Dempsey has called an obscure preacher in Florida to make sure he isn't going to tread on Obama's foreign policy turf. When does Chauncy Gardener come in? This would not have happened if Siskel and Ebert were alive and well. They would have rated Innocence of Muslims worse than Even Cow Girls Get the Blues, given it two thumbs down and moved on.
The entire country knows that it is witnessing the beginning of the end of Obama's New Beginning, the name given by the White House to the 2009 apology tour. Still the scapegoating continues. Nakoula Besseley Nakoula has been taken from his home, voluntarily, according to authorities, to answer questions about his epic film. This guy is no angel. He is on probation for some financial shenanigans that landed him in a federal pen for a 21 month sentence from which he was released early with restrictions placed on his use of computers. The feds are apparently hoping to nab him on the pretext that he violated the terms of his probation so they can cart him back to jail to prove to the world that the United States does indeed jail political activists just as China would do. Yes, the same Department of Justice that armed drug cartels would like to jail the maker of a tacky movie.
Nakoula is a Coptic Christian, a sect that was protected by the reviled Hosni Mubarak but now persecuted and even murdered by Muslims in the post Arab Spring Egyptian government of Mohammed Morsi, so if he has a distaste for the Muslim religion it is entirely understandable. The Bush administration would have called Morsi on this human rights abuse loudly and quickly but the Obama administration has not. Under the constitution Obama has sworn to uphold even sleazy film makers have rights. Nakoula offends me less than Michael Moore. Obama and the left and the Muslim world will just have to ge over it.

Cardinal Dolan Attacks 'War on Women' Solgan

Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, in effect called the "war on women" mantra a fraud perpetrated by those who would suppress religious freedom.

“This is good reminder, since, today, those who criticize the churches’ mobilization in defense of religious freedom often slyly muddy it with ‘war on women’ slogans,” he said.

Dolan named the HHS mandates as the specific threat to religious freedom.

“Thus, to say it again, the wide ecumenical and inter-religious outrage over the HHS mandate is not about its coverage of chemical contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs — in spite of the well-oiled mantra from our opponents — but upon the raw presumption of a bureau of the federal government to define a church’s minister, ministry, message, and meaning,” he said.

Shocking: Hillary responsible for Libya deaths?

  A few days ago after the brutal murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Hillary asked this profound question:

How could this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction?” 

  The Independent has reported from "diplomatic sources" that the State Department had 48 hours notice that embassies were targeted. 
  Certainly any 9/11 of any year would be a natural target, but State had further knowledge.
  Instead of arming the consulate where Stevens and 3 other Americans were staying, State chose to employ local guards who sympathized with the protesters and immediately ran away when the protest started. 
  Reports say that Libyan government sources had moved the 4 Americans and then told the rioters, believed to be more than just rioters but rather terrorists who carefully planned the attack, the location of the safe house.
  In fact, the house where Stevens was staying had paper thin walls, not even bullet proof glass.
  Breitbart is all over this. 
  Hillary ignored the warnings.
  Hillary kept Marines out of Libya.
  Is Obama complicit?
  Today he proposed cutting embassy security and construction.
  The point of not having armed Marines was to create a "low profile" in these countries, to trust the locals regardless of their previous behavior and lawless mentality, foolish as that seems now.
  Breitbart has requested through FOIA for a document bearing Hillary's signature declaring the Rules of Engagement, a document that presumably exists, according to Colonel David Hunt:

Hunt added that the rules of engagement specific to each country or military situation are drawn up by State Department lawyers and approved by the chain of command. "There should be a document with Hillary’s signature and the Secretary of Defense's specific to Libya. It was signed after Khadafi fell from power.  You'll have to ask the State Department to get the document. They might claim it's classified, but it shouldn't be."

  When queried today about the lack of Marines, a State Department spokeswomen replied this way: 

MS. NULAND: It’s not a matter of marines necessarily being a qualitatively different way of securing. There are many other ways to secure that are equivalent, too. 

  So State considers local Islamic hirees to be not different "qualitatively" than a significant contingent of Marines bearing loaded weapons.
  Is Hillary familiar with the Afghani soldiers who've turned on their NATO and American trainers? With Iraqi soldiers who've done the same?
  Since when are Marines "qualitatively equivalent" to Islamic locals?
  Are those "diplomatic sources" who revealed this information about Hillary to the Independent emissaries of Obama?
  Is Obama throwing Hillary under the bus?
  Did the constant crowing over Osama's death at the Democrat National Convention exacerbate the current violence?
  Did Hillary's crowing over Qaddaffi's death have anything to do with this?

Obama Sides With Radical Muslims, Tries To Get Video Pulled From Youtube

The former University of Chicago lecturer on constitutional law has sided the the raging Muslims mobs half a world away in calling for the removal of the offending video from YouTube. Obama has capitulated to the wishes of the Muslim world, thinking perhaps, that mob violence should trump the first amendment. The Washington Post reports:

The White House has asked YouTube to review an anti-Muslim film posted to the site that has been blamed for igniting the violent protests this week in the Middle East.
Tommy Vietor, spokesman for the National Security Council, said the White House has “reached out to YouTube to call the video to their attention and ask them to review whether it violates their terms of use.”
However, the video remained on the site as of Friday afternoon, and it is posted many other places on the Internet.
On Wednesday, a YouTube spokesperson said the video “is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube.”

The world burns. Where is Obama?

  In case you've been distracted with shopping at QVC or watching NCIS or actually living your life, you might not be aware that the world is on fire.

  In astounding reports from the White House, we learn that the burning of our flag, the destruction of our embassies, the murder and possible rape of our emissaries, are not personal.
  Here's a timeline from Wednesday of the events unfolding.
  We learn that Obama has skipped over half his intel briefings, including the one immediately after the murder of our ambassador to Libya.
  The official word from the White House regarding Obama's neglect of intel briefings is that Obama's too intelligent to need to be briefed, face to face and eye to eye. Instead he can read the briefings. His representative says he "can forgo his daily intelligence meeting because he is, in Vietor’s words, “among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet.”
  The fatuous Obama, who as we know isn't above lying about his qualifications and abilities, was never offered tenure nor was he ever a constitutional lawyer, contrary to his dramatic resume claims.
  Among his claims was also the contention that, if elected president, the Islamic world would understand that he, having a Muslim sister and having been raised in Muslim environs, the Muslim world would know that he is "listening to them," and that, unlike the Bush administration which failed to understand that, would "make us safer."
  He alone is qualified to lead.
  Yet Jay Carney claims that the violence that is erupting around the world is NOT in response to US policy:

CARNEY: We also need to understand that this is a fairly volatile situation and it is in response not to United States policy, and not to, obviously, the administration, or the American people, but it is in response to a video, a film that we have judged to be be reprehensible and disgusting. That in no way justifies any violent reaction to it, but this is not a case of protests directed at the United States writ large or at U.S. policy, this is in response to a video that is offensive to Muslims. 

  In fact, the Obama administration is very "proud" of their foreign policy.
  So let's be very clear. The violence is occurring in numerous places.

• The American flag is burned in London.
• The American ambassador in Libya and 3 others including Marines have been abused and murdered.
• The walls of the Cairo embassy have been repeatedly breached, our flag burned.
• An American business in Lebanon was torched.
• There have been several threats in this country against American universities.
• The embassy in Tunisia has been breached by rioters.
• Gunfire at the Sudan embassy.
• Rioters breached the walls of the Yemeni embassy.
• Riots in Jordan.
• Riots in Kuwait.
• Nigeria.
• Pakistan (3 areas).
• Jerusalem
• Bangladesh
• Kashmir
• Gaza Strip
• Somalia
• Iraq
• Amsterdam
• Maldives
• Qatar
• Sri Lanka
• Mauritania
• Morocco (2 places)
• Syria
• India
• Bahrain

  Playing.
  Campaigning.
  Planning campaign events, which include celebrities and begging for money.
  In spite of the fact that 48 hours before the murders, the State Department had information that attacks were imminent.
  So Marines weren't allowed to carry armed weapons?
  No problem. We'll just be really sure Valerie Jarrett, shadow president and unelected official, will have a full Secret Service complement to assure her safety.
  Where, indeed, is Obama?

Romney Leads by 3 in Rasmussen Poll

Romney continues to widen his lead on Obama in the latest Rasmussen poll. Yesterday he was up by 1 point. Today Romney leads by 3 points, 48% to 45%.

The American Left Joins Muslims in Their Hatred of Free Speech

Relative to my partner's post, Why supporting Sam Bacile's constitutional rights is essential, we have grown to expect a large degree of lunacy in the afternoon and evening hours at MSNBC but the guests on Morning Joe usually don't go off the deep end. Jonah Goldberg over at National Review Online writes that Mike Barnacle, the plagiarizer, and Donny Deutsch as well as University of Pennsylvania professor Anthea Butler all agreed that the people behind the video should be indicted as accessories to murder. As I did see the show I'm reluctant to comment on it but I encourage you to read the Goldberg post. Also they want to have Terry Jones arrested too although it not clear he has anything to do with this film. Now American liberals join radical Muslims in advocating the coercive elimination of free speech.

Why supporting Sam Bacile's constitutional rights is essential

  Watching the Middle East both implode and explode from your living room tv is something we take for granted in this modern age of technology; we have become accustomed to watching history as if we are a part of everything that happens in the world.
  What motivates the protesters to act so viciously, murdering and oppressing human beings--Christian, Coptic, Jew, female, homosexual--in their wake across the globe is inexplicable to Americans.
  The proffered excuse for the Cairo, et al, demonstrations is a lame video that purportedly disrespects their spiritual leader.
  To us in the West it doesn't make sense to try to beat people into submission when we disagree with them. 
  Is there another more ominous long term purpose behind the demonstrations protesting a silly video?
  Taranto at the WSJ speculates a different motive for the wild behavior exhibited in the past week.

But those condemnations, which we quoted yesterday, rather miss the point. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo, in its infamous apology statement, deplored "efforts . . . to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the video "inflammatory" and suggested its message is counter to "America's commitment to religious tolerance." Obama rejected "America's commitment to religious tolerance." 

But although the video may indeed be insensitive, inflammatory, intolerant and insulting, that's not why the rioters are rioting. They are rioting because in their view it is blasphemous, and therefore forbidden under Shariah. And although the Muslim Brotherhood has cannily adopted the rhetoric of wounded feelings, it is calling for the criminalization of blasphemy world-wide, as CNSNews.com reports:

  The rest of the article is over at WSJ but Taranto's point (and CNS's) is that the goal of these riots is to get the fellow Bacile who made the film, an action that Eric Holder's DOJ is exploring, right on command.
  For the preservation of our republic, it is essential that the filmmaker NOT be charged with anything for making this film.
  The right to free speech is essential to the bedrock commitment of this country to the Constitution and to the natural rights afforded us by Nature's God.
  Yet  numerous individuals, including professors and celebrities, have called on the DOJ to prosecute the filmmaker for murder, even though the video itself is just an excuse for bad behavior.
  So let's be honest about what's going on here.
  The real goal of these protests is to introduce a global legal prohibition against offending the most radical Muslims' religious sensibilities; in other words, to introduce Shariah law on a global scale, thus upending our Constitution and placing a very big foot in the door of every government on the planet.
  Taranto says Egypt's Morsi, who was educated in the US, has been "emboldened" by Obama's "weakness."
  While Mitt Romney has been roundly criticized for his statement protesting the appeasement doctrine so apparent in the Cairo embassy's statement (not repudiated by the White House for many, many hours), Obama has been spectacularly weak-kneed in supporting the First Amendment.
  The Daily Caller notes that Obama, leading from behind as usual, only endorsed the idea of free speech after being pushed and after some pretty uncertain hours of confusion, perpetuated by Obama's lack of interest in intelligence reports and his eagerness to flee DC to meet with his admirers and cash cows.
  While the media may scoff at the notion that a primary goal of Shariah law will be fulfilled if Eric Holder pursues the filmmaker Bacile, the truth is that there is a name for this kind of behavior in response to radical Islamic threats.

  Militant Muslim groups complain the term is a political and discriminatory hot potato, not a reality, but over and over we see what it means to Christians if they capitulate to the most radical elements of Islam.
  We will see what Eric Holder's DOJ does with the prosecution of the individual who made the film; certainly he has a checkered past includes some really shady deals. 
  But making a film that disrespects any religion is not prosecutable. Think of the implications of what prosecuting such free speech would mean, now and in the years to come.
  Have we not come incrementally to an incredible place 11 years after 911?
  Groped at airports, train stations and even political rallies, prosecuted for selling raw milk? Snooped on by drones, just as we snoop on our enemies?
  How did we get to a place where an unelected aide said to be a shadow president receives full Secret Service protection but Marines are not allowed to bear armed weapons to defend the Cairo embassy?
  While Taranto says the conflict between Shariah and our Constitution as "irreconcilable," and that no "accommodation is possible," with this Department of Justice and this Preezy, one never knows.
  Our law and our Constitution seem to be no barrier as Holder and Obama set about accomplishing the "fundamental transformation of America."
