Portlandia: Portrait of Liberals

A funny, funny vignette show available to watch on Netflix, etc. Is this the first time liberals have been made fun of like conservatives?
The dream of the 90s is alive in Portland...an alternative universe....

Campaign Poster to End All Posters..

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure.

It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies.

Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally.

Leadership means that, "the buck stops here."  Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.

America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.

Americans deserve better.”

~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Orrin Hatch: you're on notice

Is it wrong that I'm laughing at Orrin Hatch? I mean, he seems like a really nice guy.
The problem is that he also seems like he's a go-along-to-get-along guy who enjoys being in the Senate and also enjoys the role of policymaker.
Remember Plato warned you really don't want people to govern you who want to. They'll never leave. Does anyone think Barack Hussein Obama  would have done what George Washington did? Deny being named "king" as opposed to president?
Though Sarah Palin supported Hatch, Tea Partiers have developed an independent streak, particularly in Utah. A few days ago, Hatch declared that he was "doggoned offended" by libertarians, and that he "despise[d] these people" and would "punch them in the mouth."
  Hm.
Perhaps an unwise move considering what happened to Hatch's compatriot Bennett in Utah, who didn't even make it into his party's primary, and thus grew very very bitter about actually having to defend his seat and, oops, lost it.
So old Orrin failed to clinch the 60% threshold in the primary runoff the other day.
  Haw haw.
He missed it by a few points. In fact, he attained 59.1% of the vote.
  Haw haw haw.
So now Orrin do-you-know-who-I-am Hatch has the expense and humiliation of a runoff.
  32 votes.
And it looks like it is KMA time for Hatch as he praised Ron and Rand Paul a day ago.
The advantage is still in Hatch's court in many ways, including Romney's endorsement.
But what's significant about this is that the Tea Partiers are still active. They swing elections. They care about where this country is headed. They don't toe the party line. In fact, they are a force that will influence for years to come. They may have gone underground, but they're surfacing in local and state elections.
And whether they personally win elections or not, they will help shape the direction this country moves in.
The rise of the Libertarian movement is also remarkable, though we rarely hear commentary on this. The Libertarian movement used to be made up primarily of pot smokers who wanted it legalized, but that has changed.
You might say we have the John Stossel brand of Libertarian among young people.
And YOU, Democrat party with all your creeping regulations and your grasping into our personal lives have fed that desire to break free.
And YOU, Republican party, have not only gone along with it, but YOU TOO have become power mad, enjoying your exclusive parking spots and your easy TSA passage.
  Be on warning.
Tea Partiers have become part of the political landscape.
  Get used to it.

Jay Carney: Plausible deniabiity

Jay Carney has to be the most devious press man ever in front of a camera. He's now criticizing PALIN for politicizing the Secret Service Agent's leering comments about her on his Facebook page. Politico:
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Friday accused Sarah Palin and other Republicans of trying   to politicize the Secret Service and Army photo scandals.[SNIP] [saying]“Any assertion by those politicians that you mentioned should be valued by the cost that you paid for it. It is preposterous to politicize the Secret Service, to politicize the behavior of the terrible conduct of some soldiers in Afghanistan, in a war that has been going on for ten years.”
Seriously? This woman has not only been savaged by the media, liberals, Hollywood and just about anybody who has a liberal bent, and now for her criticism of an agent who was supposed to be protecting her and her family but was instead leering at her SHE is politicizing the Secret Service???
UPDATE: MSNBC: Palin was "bragging" about his "ogling" her....
And has anybody noticed that the press has asked more than once if anyone from the White House was involved in the Secret Service scandal:
Q    Has anybody from the West Wing Chief of Staff’s office talked to any of the West Wing staffers or the Executive Office of the President staffers who were in Cartagena on what they know preceded that week?  Was there any involvement at all by members of the President’s staff?
MR. CARNEY:  There are conversations that have happened at senior White House staff levels with the Secret Service and with Director Sullivan, but not with regards -- as I understand it -- with regards to the incident itself, which did not -- has to do with members of the Secret Service and members of the military.
Q    You’re positive there were no White House Executive Office of the President employees involved?
MR. CARNEY:  I have not heard otherwise, Ann.
And now suddenly Senator Grassley is asking?
I'm willing to guess, given the plausible deniability exhibited by Carney, the repeated questions by the press, and now the followup by Grassley, that there's more there.
If Grassley is doing this just to draw more attention to it through politicizing, then it's pretty disgusting. If he's doing it to draw attention to the fact that the POTUS may be endangered, then that's appropriate.
If the White House staff were involved, then it wouldn't be too surprising.
And it's a whole nother can of worms.
It certainly wouldn't be the first time they've been involved in unsavory or unappealing circumstances.

Unionists: baby me

The fight is on in Wisconsin; Walker's got a lead, but not a huge one, against the unionists running against him. To say Wisconsin is ground zero is a given. If you ever thought of supporting financially any candidate, this is the one.
He was elected to clean up the state's finances and that's what he's done.
Consequently union thugs have moved in from all over the country to canvass the state and financially make as much of a mess as they can. They are pouring millions and millions of union dollars, not all of which were from supportive members but all of which were coerced, into this state.
Legal Insurrection has an image today of a perfect metaphor for the state of mind of the unionists. On the left is a bumper sticker that says Recall Walker, on the right is is a bumper stick with a blue fist with the phrase "Stand With Wisconsin."
And, of course, in the middle is:
This is the comment from the reader who took the picture:
I work on the north side of Milwaukee, WI. I was behind this car on my way home from work last night. I think it says it all…
The uber liberals never cease to amaze me with their transparency.
I’ll keep my eyes open for more gems. It’s an incredible (and scary) place to live right now! More out-of-state license plates than I’ve seen in my 10 years here. I wish the unions could be exposed for the thugs that they are.
Now why we lots and lots of out of state plates be in Wisconsin? And maybe quite a few from the DC area? Could POTUS have anything to do with this? (Obviously)

Sorry, just couldn't pass this up...

Zimmerman's wounds reveal attack

    Huh.
Well, it's pretty obvious at this point that the prosecutor's (let's pray together with the victim's family) choices are political.
Not sure why Zimmerman claimed apology to Martin's parents. It can make him look like, "Hey, I wouldn't have shot him if I knew he was 17," when, in reality no matter what age the "boychild" was, if the "child" was an aggressor, he had to be fended off.
There's no information that Zimmerman was the aggressor.
At this point, it's a "he said/Sharpton says" argument. Ugh.
You gotta love the faux outrage of the attorneys however, that Martin's parents' attorneys expressed. Martin's parents have been schooled in faux outrage to maximize the desired outcome. ABC:
Ben Crump, a lawyer for Martin's parents, said the family was furious that Zimmerman could "give this self serving apology so he could get a bond." One of the lawyers for the family called the apology "disingenuous and insincere."
Zimmerman, 28, is being held on charges of second-degree murder for the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin, 17, which could carry a life sentence if he is convicted.
The prosecutors have to deal with this photo ABC revealed, whose omission Dershowitz calls "grave ethical violation,"
This case has been pretty appalling, start to finish.

How Much is that Doggie in the Window

obama-dog

As TP@P reported, the liberal media has been having a field day reporting that Romney used to cart his family dog around in a kennel on the roof of his car.  He said that the dog loved it.

Then, as TP@P has pointed out, the DUFUS POTUS has written that he had eaten dog meat as a youth in Indonesia.

Yes, Mildred, there are cultures who eat dogs.  ...and cats, and rats, and bats!

Personally, I have never developed a taste for them.  I much prefer hummingbirds, but it takes so many of them to make a meal.

Liberals trash another conservative woman

Ciara Mathews is Scott Walker's spokeswoman.
Well, we knew this would happen.
  She's young, we'll say.
Which means she has a Facebook/blog trail to follow.
Which means that websites like Jezebel have lots of material to use against her.
You can't have your own beliefs. You can't vary from the abortion/free sex/money giveaway memes that liberals espouse on television, in newspapers, magazines, movies.
  It's everywhere.
So here's the attractive young woman who used to work at Hooters who's now being attacked, just as other conservative women are viciously attacked, for being, well, not liberal. Jezebel:

In a hypocritical turn, Matthews seems totally fine with selling chaste sexiness but not permitting sexuality — she used to be a waitress at Hooters. Now, short of cooking meth or murdering enemies of the mob, doing what you have to do to work your way through college is generally admirable, and Matthews shouldn't be faulted for donning the shiny suntan nylons and orange short shorts of the Hooters uniform. As they say, if you've got it, flaunt it. But profitting from selling a plasticized form of unnatural sexiness designed to arouse men while simultaneously believing that women should be forced to face the "consequences" of actually giving into to their sexual desires is a pretty backward way of thinking. And she should be taken to task for it. So we've posted this hilarious picture of her in her Hooters uniform to illustrate the ridiculousness of all of this — Walker, Matthews, their wacky beliefs, and the general asshats who we've somehow elevated to positions like Governor of an entire goddamn state. Vote, people! This is what happens when you don't!
This is what happens when you DON'T VOTE?
This delusional writer doesn't seem to understand that Scott Walker, who has turned around the state financially, was elected by 52%/46% of the state's voters in an election where about 50% of voters turned out, which is about usual.
You gotta be like they are. You can't think for yourself.
  Liberals are mean.
  Just rattlesnake mean.
That they've proven over and over.

Doggie roundup

For a few years, people have said that liberals own the social media but, nuh uh. Not anymore.
Twitter, especially, is the go-to place to find out what's happening. Conservatives have posted some of the funniest tweets in the last few days over Fidogate.
The funniest tweets, according to Politico, are here.
  Others include from Legal Insurrection:
Romney put a car on top of a car. Obama put a dog on top of rice.
Roof! Roof! I'll take the top of Mitt Romney's car over the roof of barackobama's mouth any day of the week!
What's happened is hilarious. Once again, like the Fluke and Ann Romney kerfuffles, liberals took an extraordinarily silly incident and tried to turn it into a dark truth about Republicans.
They're out for your contraception! (set up by ABC's Stephanopolous)
They want to pee in your water!
They want more asthmatic kids to gasp like fish out of water!
They want you to starve in a FOOD DESERT!
  They want you fat!
They want YOU to support MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES!
  THEY HATE DOGS!
And here is the man himself, reading about eating dogs.
Yes, it's true. Not a lie. Not an exaggeration. Not an attempt to get you to ignore reality.
  This man ate dog.

  Then there's this.
  And this.
And Bo, the First Dog, has his own blog.
And, of course, the truth had to be broken to Hitler.

  Yep.
  We pwned this one.
AND THIS from Instapundit:

I THINK IT WAS A LHASA APSO, ACTUALLY: Obama: Unlike Some People I Wasn’t Born With A Silver Spoon In My Mouth.Alternative tagline: “What’s the matter? Dog not good enough for you?”
And the inimitable James Taranto had to get into the act.

POTUS: cuts will affect our clown budget

So we get how this goes. You pick a target and demonize it. You repeat the same nasty untrue (or maybe a bit of truth mixed in with lies) over and over and over. You get a few friends to say similar things.
In continuing to make your case, then, you cite your previous speechs and stuff you put your friends up to saying.
This is the standard OP used by The Prince, who wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
No, maybe just a bitter pill.
So in preparation to make a speech, you find some poor dummy who has a disease or lost a job or is a complete scammer (or all these things), you talk with him/her/it on camera and then cite their sadsack situation in your speeches.
Throw in a couple "This isn't who we are!"s and "Let me be clear!"s and "Ever-body has to do their fair share!"s and "Change is hard!"s and you're good to go!
  Like Obama's speech today.
Obama hasn't had a decent budget since he was elected. The Dems haven't passed a budget since he was elected.
Under this president, the federal debt has increased by 5 trillion dollars. No attempt is ever made to save money or cut.
In fact, spending has increased to clownish proportions.
Sadly, I can Google "clown" and "GSA" and get 231,000 results, most of which will NOT be from the MSM.
Yet today today The Prince took the opportunity to bash anybody who tries to cut anything:
If these cuts are spread out evenly, then 10 million college students -- including some of you -- would see your financial aid cut by an average of more than $1,000 each. Thousands of medical research grants for things like Alzheimer’s and cancer and AIDS would be eliminated. Our investments in clean energy that are helping to break our dependence on foreign oil and are creating jobs here in Ohio would be cut by nearly a fifth. By the time you retire, Medicare would turn into a voucher system that likely would not cover the doctors or the care that you need -- that would have to come out of your pocket. Job training programs like this one would be forced to cut back. Thousands of Americans would lose out on critical employment and training services. That's the truth.
  Nobody wants anything cut, ever.
  Ever.
No cuts. No cuts in the rate of increase.
No stopping departments from hiring clowns for their million dollar Vegas trips. Nothing.
And if you try, you're politically dead.
At least to the current administration.
They won't be able to hire as many clowns or provide free parking spaces for the wives of employees who are on vacation seminar trips.
UPDATE: I rest my case. Politico:

--“[Rep. Anthony Weiner] would enter in his office in the Rayburn Building screaming at the top of his lungs, ‘Why the fuck am I not on MSNBC?!’ When the health care debate kicked in, Anthony Weiner became the one-man standard-bearer for the single-payer system. He was now on MSNBC every week, sometimes every day – to the point where he was carrying his own makeup kit. (Or rather, his press guy was.) But because he believed that a fighter should also go into the enemy camp, he was also the designated liberal brawler on Fox. He rather enjoyed his screaming matches with Fox hosts Sean Hannity and Megyn Kelly. It burned bile, he liked to say.
“Neither Pelosi nor anyone else deputized him to speak for his party. But as the ultimate freelancer in a boy of 435 legislative entrepreneurs, Anthony Weiner had discovered that if you go on TV often enough and say something catchy, two things happen. First, your point of view, through repetition across each network, can actually become the conventional wisdom. … Second, by speaking for the party, you are a de factor party spokesman. But not just perceptually: as if to fulfill the prophecy, Pelosi and Steny Hoyer were no actually turning to him to issue points of order on the House floor! They’d seen he was quicker on his feet than most of his other colleagues, not to mention an obliging slasher. …

First Solar

Some things in life are predictable.

The sun comes up in the morning and goes down in the evening.  Biden steps on his tongue with track shoes every-time he opens his mouth.  Solar power is a fraud.

Perrysburg's First Solar, deeply involved in Obama's energy subsidies and darling of our own porkette, Marcy Kaptur, joins the rest of the solar energy boondoggle claiming that it is impossible to make a profit without subsidies.

Dropping 30% of their world-wide employees and on the cusp of being dropped from the Nasdaq 100 index, Perrysburg employees are in line for further cuts.

Absolutely no one wants to see good, working people loose their jobs, but when one creates a house of cards built on smoke and mirrors one can expect no less...

The Craziest Person Ever to Set Foot on the House Floor

Speaking at a Florida Tax Day rally, Rep. LTC Allen West says that Obama is an abject failure in everything he does.

To those who haven’t the time to watch the entire video, go to 12:45 for the skinny on new Obamacare taxes and West’s hilarious take on the tanning bed tax.

Meme: children are hungry in America

UPDATE, and oh so timely: Hey, who could have guessed there's no such thing as a food desert?
Last weekend, the Food Network had a show on hunger in America, hosted by Jeff Bridges. It's hard to define how absolutely nauseating this show was, which showed numerous people (often overweight) complaining they didn't have enough to eat.
There's a reminder here. 45 million people are on food stamps, now known as SNAP. The federal government offered financial incentives for states to enroll more and more people on the food stamp rolls. In fact, there's such loose oversight of SNAP that some unscrupulous (and obviously not hungry) people trade their food stamps for stuff like cash or guns.
  From Heritage Foundation:
And it’s [SNAP] been growing, recession or not. Since 2000, as the report points out, participation rates have skyrocketed from just 17.2 million to 44.7 million in 2011—an increase of roughly 260 percent. Naturally, this means that the federal government has “successfully” increased the program’s cost—in fact, more than tripled it—from approximately $20 billion in 2000 to a whopping $72 billion in fiscal year 2011.
Anyway, throughout this Food Network show on hunger, solemn voices intoned solemn messages about hungry children.
Solemn voice: "Look around. One in six children is hungry."
Solemn voice: "Look around. One in five children is hungry."
Solemn voice: "Look around. One in four children is hungry."
FWIW, on the radio, the solemn voice intoned that 1 in 7 children is hungry.
Even Bridges in uncertain of the number, which seems to be drawn from a deep dark place, since he cites 1 in 5 or 1 in 4. Like, which is it?
So 25% of children in this country are hungry.
So Bridges says this isn't a partisan issue; then they interview, like, 5 Democrats about how everyone should be solemn and recognize that children (pick your number) are hungry in America.
They've been "let down by the American Dream," Bridges complains. We should be ashamed! It's devastating!
Then we are treated to heart warming videos of children being fed in their elementary classroom by the federal government, who can meet all needs for all people all the time!

I mean, seriously, get it together, Americans?
Is this who we really are? Come out of the dark and into the light!
It's really just so quintessentially American that a channel that talks all day about food, how to fix it, how to store it, how to mix it up with other foods, would have a show on people who apparently can't figure out how to get it, in spite of all the government programs and the 45 million people who are already on it.

Creepy DOJ "peacemakers" on the scene

They can't reveal their names. They can't reveal their purpose, other than to make "peace."
What. You thought the DOJ was about the Department of Justice?
One has to wonder if they're the ones to feed the phony lines to the gullible MSM.
Has anything YOU'VE seen indicated this DOJ is about cooling "heated emotions"?
  Didn't think so.
  They have uniforms.
They make the protesters feel "protected."
  They just "foster communication."
  Orlando Sentinel:
Even though last week's arrest of suspected shooter George Zimmerman calmed some tensions, the Community Relations Service will remain in Sanford for an unspecified period of time. "As long as we're needed," the agency's acting director said.
The Community Relations Service offers few details about its work.
City officials, local leaders and residents say these peacekeepers have played a key role in easing tensions during some of the most heated moments after Trayvon's shooting.

"They were there for us," said the Rev. Valarie Houston, pastor of Allen Chapel AME Church, a focal point for the community after the unarmed teen's death. She met the peacekeepers there for the first time during a March 20 town-hall meeting. "We felt protected," she said.
White House Dossier wonders why the secrecy:
There is a secretive aspect to the group’s activities, although officials assert this is to facilitate participation in The Peacemakers mediation efforts. According to Main Justice, officials are barred from revealing the identity of parties participating in negotiations overseen by the CRS.
Government workers paid by taxpayer dollars, secretive.
Are these people hiding anything else?

Trayvon/Zimmerman story unravels

Recall the grainy video that showed "no marks" on George Zimmerman's head. Later an "enhanced" video showed there was indeed damage on the back of Zimmerman's head, though early reports ASSumed there were none.
Now the story is unraveling, as friends and neighbors report to have seen bandages and bruises on Zimmerman's face and head. One would hope neighbors would support the man who was helping patrol their neighborhood, which had had numerous breakins in previous months.
The press built this story up from nothing. Now that the truth is coming out they're having to walk it back, even as George Zimmerman fears for his life in jail.
They've destroyed this man's life and his family's lives. People are even afraid of telling the truth because of the theater that has been created in Sanford, Florida.

Morning roundup, Tax Day

Well, ya take a couple days apart and the whole place falls apart.
Items of interest over the weekend:
Obama is on a trip to Colombia. While he's there, he declares that "part of my job is to scout out where I may want to bring Michelle back later for vacation." People found this really funny, considering that a St. Louis radio guy just confronted Obama that everyone's complaining that POTUS and FLOTUS are going on too many vacations, sometimes not even together. 16, to be precise.
The argument is made that 16 doesn't compare to Bush's 30 visits to his ranch in Texas at this point in his presidency.
Oh, come on. You can't SERIOUSLY compare that dusty dirt bowl to a VACATION, can you? Not to mention that Bush used his Texas ranch as a 2nd White House, like Camp David. This meant that the Secret Service agents had a regular place to stay, knew where they were going and didn't have to move in to place ships in the water outside the Hawaii condo to make sure nobody shot an incoming Stinger.
Other news around the nation includes the increasing doubt about the charges brought against Zimmerman; some cases are being pretty well made by the attorneys around the web, including Just One Minute and Clarice Feldman. If you have questions about the case, read these.
Then there's that POTUS, running around the WORLD doing his best to divide unite again by criticizing his opponent (who isn't even an opponent yet) to a global audience. We should have considered this SOP, considering this guy seems to have no loyalty whatsoever for this country and its citizens unless, of course, they bow to the king and contribute to his campaign coffers which are filled cash from around the world, unmonitored by any security measures whatsoever.
Tax cheat Timothy Geithner, who pretty much always seems to still LOOK GUILTY, has come out from behind the curtain to blame Republicans for the sucking economy. Go figure, considering that Democrats haven't passed a budget since Obama's been in office.
And Axelrod made a fool of himself by telling the truth. You have a choice "between a healthy economy that grows the middle class and gives people a chance to get ahead and the road we’re on."
So apparently that means that the road we're on which has been guided by Democrats, Senate, House and Presidency, for 3 years, is the WRONG ONE.
Which is exactly what all of US out here have been saying.
And then there's that old Tiger Dick Cheney. Yowza

Good showing at Perrysburg Tax Rally

It's been cold and rainy all day but about 150 brave souls were out to hear the speakers at the Perrysburg Tea Party Rally today at Hood Park, April 14, 2012. The Heritage Values Bus was there (parked near the Way Library), as was the Family Research Council.
But, MORE IMPORTANTLY, the number of people who showed up considering the weather was really encouraging.
Joe the Plumber, Bob Latta and a number of local politicians participated in the rally and certainly the Libertarian Party, which has been gaining considerable steam lately, was well represented.
Thanks to all who showed up in spite of the weather.
Pics to follow as soon as I warm up.
