Having admired Sarah Palin without being committed to her candidacy, I have to say this woman, in spite of all the degradation from the press, rocks.
Fox was tweeting the question, what did she mean when she said, "Fight like a girl!"
I'll tell ya what she meant.
The Republicans are fighting like girlie men right now, not like in a real girl fight.
You may laugh at the comment unless you've seen the real thing.
Have you ever seen a real girl fight? I have and I can tell you it's brutal. Hair pulling, blood drawing, and body slams.
It's pretty tough.
What other politician, Democrat or Republican, has stood up to such abuse, heaped day after day, including outrageous sexual slurs? Instead of fainting or wilting, she has taken her time to articulate clear responses to the abusers without spouting off.
She articulates so well the American message. While there are others who are also rising stars (Rubio, West, Christie), none have so regularly and in response to only her own internal political clock responded to current topics as Sarah Palin.
She appears at very difficult venues, like the lousy Wisconsin union blast yesterday? Geez. Walking into the lions' den takes guts. Dressed to the nines while surrounded by heavy winter coats, she blasted both the Democrats and the Republicans. Who else is doing that so regularly and effectively?
Fight on, Sarah Palin, warrior of the people.
Fight on.

Am I crazy?
So I've backed off politics (well, sort of) this week because the weak-kneed and unserious Republicans don't seem to be taking seriously the titanic debt this country has been accumulating.
It goes without saying that the unspeakably dishonest Democrats are cause for alarm.
Soooo too much shouting at the tv, rages against people I've never met, anxiety at the sight of young people, wondering what kind of future they're going to have, considering the mess my generation is making of this country, especially for them. (Ain't we considerate.)
Take, for example, this problem of air traffic controllers falling asleep on their jobs.
Having been on many a red eye flight, I can verify that indeed airports, in general, (except Las Vegas of which I have a very unpleasant and many houred memory but that's a whole nother story) are quite dead after a certain hour at night, with very few flights coming in and out at those ungodly hours.
So it must be really boring to be an air traffic controller during those hours but you probably only need one person on the job.
I asked my ancient father yesterday, who worked nights for many years, what would have happened if he had fallen asleep on the job. "Well," he winced,"I would've been fired, that's what."
Novel thought.
But what does the FAA do when it finds out their air traffic controllers are falling asleep on the job?
Does the FAA suggest air traffic controllers quit playing Enya while they work the graveyard shift?
Do they supply free coffee?
Do they consider installing devices that would require regular check ins initiated by movement, like the lowly night watchman who has to do a check card regularly?
Do they consider pressure sensitive alarms?
No, of course not.
They suggest the air traffic controllers bring their mats for naptime, like we did in kindergarten.
But this would be controlled naptime, the feds say.
What would controlled federal naptime look like?
Maybe like auto workers' breaks?
Ha.
Because you know how good the feds are at controlling things, like, say, that first time homebuyer tax credit.
Instead of preparing for staying awake, they'll practice sleeping?
They also want it to be a two man job, thanks to the push for unionizing federal jobs, where the main goal is to get more employees, like in Illinois where a third of state employees are on workers' comp and they need to hire more pre-workers' comp workers to replace the current workers' comp state workers.
So two can sleep on the job?
I ask, am I crazy?
The government can't figure out how to balance their books. They've spent us into oblivion. They want more of our money.
But they're going to hire more inefficient workers with even lower standards?
So, in light of the current stupid solutions, I think I have some better ones.
I'll run a Sleep Abuse Rehab Center where federal government workers will learn different behavior.
Instead of the typically inefficient ways to reinforce non-sleep behavior, though, at MY institute we'll put other measures in place, which would be far more effective than the solutions now being considered.
These are my ideas to resolve the sleep problem the FAA has with its air traffic controllers.
At my Sleep Abuse Rehab Center, I will:
That's all I can think of now.
What do you think?
Am I crazy?

- put pins in the headrest.
- install electrical shock therapy in headrests
- replace computer keyboards with drool sensitive ones.
- place timers in bathroom stalls that trigger fire alarms after, say, 10 minutes.
- provide cats preferably in heat to periodically lick the face for chair headrests.
- require pumping an EFX to maintain heat/air conditioning.
- Pump delicious unattainable food aromas through the room.
- provide inflatable chairs that deflate regularly and which require hand pumping to reinflate.
- A periodic facial auto splash.
- pump cayenne pepper through the air ducts.
- lace the water coolers/coffee with ex lax.
- pipe loud German polka music into the tower.
That's all I can think of now.

Go see Atlas Shrugged!
Rumored to be a limited engagement, this independent film is playing at the Perrysburg Levis Commons cinema. Showtimes are listed here.
Hey, you can celebrate the Prosser win! That's worth a movie, right?

Poor Obama
Whew, boy. It's tough to follow the last couple days, as we've watched P.O. slide off the rails and launch into hyper partisanship rather than deal with the real problems of this country. It's very kind that he lets us keep any of our money, no?
Andrew Malcolm at the LA TImes has a great perspective on the reasoning of The One the last few days:
Boehner looks more and more like the deer in the headlights these days.
But Obama faces himself when it comes to what he wants out of life. (Mr. President, how do you feeeeeeel?)
VD Hanson encapsulates it perfectly here at NRO:
We continue to wonder: is it incompetence or design that is ruining our economy and standing in the world?
Andrew Malcolm at the LA TImes has a great perspective on the reasoning of The One the last few days:
The poor man, who turns 50 this summer, does live with his mother-in-law. But he said he especially misses Saturday mornings -- "rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed.”
Instead, Obama must endure 24-hour free room service, servants, drivers, a giant....
...helicopter, world travel, fawning celebrities, never gasping at a whirling gas pump and getting a salary that many of America's unemployed millions would take a tiny fraction of if they could.
“I can't take a walk," whined the most powerful person in the world, who spent $745 million of other people's money to get into that White House detention center.Hey, maybe those suck up RINOs are still his friends!
Boehner looks more and more like the deer in the headlights these days.
But Obama faces himself when it comes to what he wants out of life. (Mr. President, how do you feeeeeeel?)
VD Hanson encapsulates it perfectly here at NRO:
a) Has Obama in his past careers never been called to account and so reached a point where simply being Obama means that we are not supposed to apply standards of accuracy, memory, and consistency to him in the way we do to all others?
b) Or does an absent-minded Obama carelessly make up things up ad hoc as he goes along, forgetting what he said earlier, but secure that his hope-and-change delivery of the moment will so mesmerize the audience that no one will remember or care if at times he ends up saying exactly the opposite of what he had said earlier? He has a total of five reasons Obama is behaving the way he is. Be sure to read them all.
We continue to wonder: is it incompetence or design that is ruining our economy and standing in the world?

Morning roundup:April 14, 2011
You can always count on Illinois to not count accurately, fairly or correctly. This principle of the universe applies to dead voters, vote counts and, apparently in keeping with the Chicago Way, to state employees.
Global Economic Analysis reveals that 25,000 of the state's 70,000 employees are on workers' comp. Most ordinary peeps would be shocked at this number but in Illinois, there's an obvious answer to this problem.
Obviously you have to hire more state workers! Obviously! Makes sense.
Except...that there IS a program in which you can voluntarily contribute patriotically, of course, to the US governments attempts to save 3 inch fishes and uncover the motives for college students' drinking to excess.

Did you catch The One's imperious command that THE RICH want to contribute to more American government surveys about the habits of Chinese prostitutes? He shrugs his bony shoulders, purses his cranberry lips, and then announces pompously that the problem is the government simply hasn't asked them to be patriotic and pony up more cash! Amazing! "They wanna give back to their country which has done so much for them!" (Guess they didn't work for what they got.)Except...that there IS a program in which you can voluntarily contribute patriotically, of course, to the US governments attempts to save 3 inch fishes and uncover the motives for college students' drinking to excess.

Happily slashing the military budget, Our President is continuing to drop big bad exploding bombs on Libya. He seems pretty po'ed at Gadafi personally. WTF? (Winning the future?)*************************
Now the California teachers' union is getting in on the action of gangster behavior, including calling parents to harass them about budget cuts, via Weasel Zippers. Sounds like a plan. ************************
It's all Bush's fault. (Apparently there's no end date on that particular excuse.)************************
Hey, go on an expensive vacation and get killed. Sounds like fun.

Can't wait to see what Trump is up to now. It's like a good soap opera. Admit it.**************************
The most transparent administration in history doesn't want you to know who's been visiting. And the speech was partisan, too, as even liberals have figured out. Who says he doesn't know what he's doing? Did you get that impression? Cuz I did.

On chocolate milk, snakes and spendthrift *Captain Lightning in a Bottle
Well, the FDA is really doing it. They're getting certain foods banned from schools, including chocolate milk. Althouse has an opinion about that.
A friend said the other day, "Yeah, but do you know how much sodium is in canned soup?" I said, "Yeah, but have you ever tried low sodium soup?"
That shut THAT argument up.
Bleh. Low sodium V8 is even worse.
Althouse has another interesting perspective on banned the burka in France. Imagine if we did that here. Understanding that France is pretty close-minded about preserving their culture doesn't help much in understanding how a country can simply ban someone's clothing.
Now the CBO is saying there're only $348 million worth of spending cuts, as opposed to, oh, say, billions.
Before you know it, it'll be down to $348. Period.
Like I said, you knew I was a snake when you put me in your pocket.
Speaking of debt failsafe trigger, oh, yeah, you know what I'm talkin' bout.
In the speech today, Captain Lightning in a Bottle suggested that he and the gang be allowed to spend, spend, spend whatever they want and then we'd automatically have our taxes increased to cover whatever new patent leather pumps they decided the country needed.
How much sense does THAT make, after all? That way they could spend whatever they wanted! On keeping us all dependent on, guess who? THEM?
The Dear Lord only prevented him from having that idea when he had the House and Senate.
Mark Steyn at NRO has more to say about Obama's speech today, deliciously worded, as usual:

There’s something sad about a man so carelessly revealing himself as entirely inadequate to the moment. Government spending is an existential threat to the United States. Whether or not anyone at the White Houseknows this, the viziers decided to shove the sultan out on stage with a pitifully unserious speech retreating to all his lamest tropes – the usual whiny, petty and unpresidential partisan snippiness, and the ponderous demolition of straw men even he barely bothered to pretend he believed in:Powerline deals with University of Toledo law professor David Harris's book about racial profiling and its, um, errors. Again, Toledo makes the news.

States confiscating personal unclaimed funds
A pretty stunning report over at ABC about states confiscating funds from citizens' safety deposit boxes. This is crazy. The state of California actually confiscated one woman's family jewels from her safety deposit box and, even though she lived around the corner, paid her safety deposit boxes fees regularly and had her name and address clearly on the box, California took the jewels valued at $82,000 and sold them at auction for $1800. Where's the money go? Into the state's general fund aka the toilet.
There's more here at ABC:
There's more here at ABC:
Seizing More Than Safe-Deposit Boxes
It's not just safe-deposit boxes. A British man went to retire and discovered the $4 million in U.S. stock he had been counting on had been seized and sold for $200,000 years earlier -- even though he was in touch with the company about other matters.
A Sacramento family lost out on railroad land rights their ancestors had owned for generations -- also sold off as unclaimed property.
"If I had hung onto it, I would be a millionaire, multimillionaire," said John Whitley. "But that didn't happen because we didn't get to hold it."Be sure to check out this link, where you can enter your name or names of friends to discover if they have unclaimed funds somewhere. You might be surprised what you'll find.
Morning roundup-April 13
What the heck is up with the two faces Democrats are showing these days? Pelosi suddenly believes elections shouldn't matter and we should all just get along and we all think the same thing anyway. Huh? Is she crazy? What happened to "I won!" and "We don't have to listen to you Tea Partiers?"
And Obama's got religion about raising the debt ceiling, the opposite of what he felt when he wasn't in office? And Steny Hoyer, who once admitted he's a politician therefore he lies, is also having a change of heart about the debt ceiling? The Daily Caller:
And they should be surprised?
I have one answer for those who are outraged.
You knew I was a snake when you put me in your pocket.
Though I haven't had chocolate milk in many years, I have one word for Michelle: GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE CHOCOLATE MILK.
It seems the *indigenous peoples* of Bolivia want to give bugs the right to, um, vote, or something.
The UN is supportive of this new idea and therefore may also adopt the new philosophy. Why? Because the global warming moonbats haven't succeeded in confiscating Americans' income through that lame argument, so they're going to latch on to our income this way. You know, the whole "You're hurting the trees so we're going to make you pay a fee because my trees can't breathe."
Canada.com elucidates us regarding the new arm of the law regarding the complaints of Mother Earth, all in the name of "balance" and "fairness," y'all:
Hahaha! Wudn't that great, laughing at the emotionally ill? What a great way to start the day! Booyah!
You're a real man.
And Obama's got religion about raising the debt ceiling, the opposite of what he felt when he wasn't in office? And Steny Hoyer, who once admitted he's a politician therefore he lies, is also having a change of heart about the debt ceiling? The Daily Caller:
The number two Democrat in the House, Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, who called Republican efforts to raise the debt ceiling “immoral” when he voted against it in 2004, is the latest to apologize for his position on the issue. During a briefing with reporters Tuesday morning, Hoyer said his nay vote seven years ago was a “mistake.”
“Let me be the first to observe that I have voted against the debt limit in the past. That was a mistake.,” Hoyer said. “The point we were trying to make when we voted against the debt limit was that cutting revenues, ie. taxes, on a regular basis and then increasing spending was a policy that inevitably led to debt.”And now everyone's freaking out because they found out (earlier than the evil stuff they found out about the health care debacle) Obama prevaricated about the actual "cuts" that he agreed to with the budget deal.
And they should be surprised?
I have one answer for those who are outraged.
You knew I was a snake when you put me in your pocket.

One of my fondest memories of elementary school was the treat of cold chocolate milk that the cafeteria workers brought around to our classes before our naps on the floormats. White milk was 2 cents and chocolate was 3, but I bought chocolate every day. I can still remember the delicious taste of that chill treat mixed with the taste of the wax carton.Though I haven't had chocolate milk in many years, I have one word for Michelle: GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE CHOCOLATE MILK.
This is actually a hot story.

Now, of course, I know everyone's been enjoying a little fun at the expense of the moonbats, but I can't resist. It seems the *indigenous peoples* of Bolivia want to give bugs the right to, um, vote, or something.

It also establishes a Ministry of Mother Earth, and provides the planet with an ombudsman whose job is to hear nature's complaints as voiced by activist and other groups, including the state.
So to provide balance, let's revisit this old video and enjoy a laugh at the expense of all the moonbats in the world. Boy, have they got control of the Democrat party these days:"If you want to have balance, and you think that the only (entities) who have rights are humans or companies, then how can you reach balance?" Pablo Salon, Bolivia's ambassador to the UN, told Postmedia News. "But if you recognize that nature too has rights, and (if you provide) legal forms to protect and preserve those rights, then you can achieve balance."
Hahaha! Wudn't that great, laughing at the emotionally ill? What a great way to start the day! Booyah!

Yeeha-morning roundup
One of the more bizarre cases of political chameleonism is the case of Little Green Footballs's Charles Johnson.
Previously his blog was read obsessively by many in the war against terror. He carefully documented cases of extremism by the Religion of Peace and one day suddenly turned left wing.
Weasel Zippers has a story on his current belief that Palin hatred is simply right wing talking points. Apparently he thinks there is no such thing.
Read Zip here and then look at this Facebook page over at Gateway Pundit.

Red State's questioning who won the budget showdown:
The question for the Wall Street Journal editors and like minded Republicans is this: If you consider it reckless to shutdown the government over Obamacare, how will you enforce that provision of Paul Ryan’s budget in September? When will we ever eliminate it if we refuse to utilize the electoral mandate to fulfill our promise of defunding Obamacare? The dirty little secret is that we will have to use some sort of extraordinary, back door means to annul Obamacare (government shutdown, debt ceiling, budget reconciliation or change in Senate rules assuming that we win back the Senate without 60 votes). We will not have enough votes to extirpate it through the front door.

Apparently the board of Madison schools asked the teachers' union to pay part of their health insurance for show, and then rescinded it. The Daily Page:Now here’s some more bad news. When the school board ratified the hurry-up-and-git-er-done contract, it announced that teachers would pay 12 percent of their health insurance costs. That did not last long. The co-pay, sought statewide in Gov. Walker’s budget bill, now stalled in Judge Sumi’s court, has been eliminated in the Madison school district budget.

They're calling it a smoking gun. Probably when you're planning something illegal, you ought not to leave the message on an answering machine. The Daily Page again.

And the recall petitions go forward. Good luck, y'all.

so long, farewell, auf Weidersehen, good night....
I have to say the DCCC's mourning Glenn Beck's loss is pretty funny. I assume the misspellings are intentional, because Democrats are, of course, the smartest people in the whole world:
For some people, anyway.
****************************
But THIS isn't funny at all and it's a shame that Facebook is allowing a page to exist for months suggesting someone murder Sarah Palin. Regardless what you think of her or any person, to put something like this up is unbalanced. Stick with the funny stuff, dopes.*****************************
Wow. The Washington Times reports that Patricia Cornwell is involved in a political scandal. As usual, it looks like some people are willing to do anything to win:Novelist Patricia Cornwell, billed as America’s No. 1 crime writer, is entangled in a real-life federal investigation into the expenditure of tens of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, court records show.

And the educators know best, even at lunch. Students at this Chicago school aren't allowed to pack lunches anymore but have to buy lunch from school. Can you say gluten allergies? The Blaze:“Nutrition wise, it is better for the children to eat at the school,”Principal Elsa Carmona told the Tribune. “It’s about the nutrition and the excellent quality food that they are able to serve (in the lunchroom). It’s milk versus a Coke. But with allergies and any medical issue, of course, we would make an exception.”
***********************************
And who could have guessed there's drama in the current White House? ***********************************
Now the old Democrat lady who verified the Wisconsin count for Supreme Court justice was accurate has recanted. Can you imagine the death threats she's suffered? The egging her house has taken? Wispolitics:"In retrospect, it seems both shocking and somewhat appalling there was no mention of discovery of this 15,000 vote 'human error' that ultimately had the potential to tip the balance of an entire statewide election. How is this possible?" she said.
Once the canvass was complete, she was pulled into a meeting with Nickolaus and the GOP member of the canvass board where they were told of an upcoming news conference and the mistake, though not the magnitude. Nickolaus explained what happened and showed them different tapes "where the numbers seemed to add up, though I have no idea where the numbers were coming from." She also said she was instructed she would not say anything at the news conference.
**************************************
There've been rumors for years that all the conspirators were not caught in the OKC bombing. Now the truth? American Thinker:
Dispelling the image of Timothy McVeigh as the bombing mastermind, Nichols resolutely confirmed that the decorated Gulf War veteran had numerous liaisons with men of Arab extraction, boldly proclaiming, "McVeigh talked about Middle Easterners on a number of occasions, and quite frequently," but Nichols claimed that he "could not remember the context of those discussions." Once again, Nichols refused to reveal the third terrorist, terrified of retribution.

From the NY Times:“They were judging me for who I am, not for the job I was being asked to do, and that’s wrong, and I was hurt,” he said. “I’m doing this so everyone knows it’s wrong, so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”All s/he's missing is the right body parts.
**************************************
So let's run somebody for the Senate who was shot in the brain. After all, some people will do anything to win. We've been wondering about those sunny reports that Congresswoman Giffords is practically back to usual already. Newsweek:“Let’s say that she’s 90 percent [recovered],” says Mike McNulty, Giffords’s last campaign chairman. “Well, we’ve had congressmen in Arizona who didn’t even have a brain. So, it’s not like you have to be as talented as she is to be good at it.”As mentioned, political opportunism knows no boundaries.
For some people, anyway.

And, hey, dope, it's your fault gas prices are so high. What are ya, drivin' around in an 8 mpg armored Cadillac? Heritage:President Barack Obama deflected blame for high gas prices yesterday, by blaming American consumers for their automobile choices. According to the AP, at an event at a wind turbine plant, “Obama needled one questioner who asked about gas prices.” Obama laughingly said: “If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know…you might want to think about a trade-in.” (The AP later scrubbed this quote from its stories.

We the People Convention July 1-2 Columbus
"We the People Convention"
We the People Convention, Inc.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The first-annual “We the People Convention” – a gathering of citizens interested in participating in the governing process as provided by the Ohio and US Constitutions – will be held in Columbus, Ohio on July 1-2, 2011 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and will feature nationally known political analyst Dick Morris as a keynote speaker. Candidates who declare their intention to run for President of the United States in 2012 will also be invited and expected to attend the two-day event.
“Our mission statement is clear. The purpose of this statewide convention shall be to recruit, educate, and motivate Ohio citizens at the grassroots level to perform their constitutionally defined role in the governance of their townships, municipalities, and counties, as well as in our state and nation, by providing opportunities, knowledge, and training to ensure limited constitutional governance,” said Tom Zawistowski, president of We the People Convention, Inc.
The convention was announced today in a press conference at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. We the People Convention, Inc., is a state registered 501(c) 4 non-profit educational corporation based in Columbus. Zawistowski also announced the formation of a new State Political Action Committee (PAC) called the Ohio Citizens PAC which will host two dinners around the convention to raise money for Patriot groups around the state.
The PAC dinner on Friday, July 1, 2011 will feature Morris, while the dinner on Saturday night, July 2, 2011 is expected to feature presidential candidates.
Zawistowski added, “Our goal is to educate citizens about the political process and the effects of that process on governance. For many of us in the Patriot Movement, it is clear that we have the government we have because we have not fully participated in the political process as is provided by the Ohio and U.S. Constitutions. If we are not happy with the government we have, it is up to “We the People” to change the direction of government through our participation.
However, based on recent experience, we have found that regular citizens have not been able to exercise their rights effectively primarily due to a lack of understanding of how things work. The goal of this convention is to rectify that situation.”
“We expect to attract, conservative citizens from all parts of the political spectrum. Some will be members and leaders of TEA Party and 912 groups, others will be devotees of tax reform, gun rights, states rights and other conservative issues.”
The We the People Convention will consist of two days of educational breakout sessions, interspersed with major national figures speaking at luncheons and at two evening dinners being hosted by the Ohio Citizens PAC on Friday and Saturday night of the Convention. Additional speakers will be announced as they are contracted. The website for the Convention is located at www.WethePeopleConvention.org.

Morning roundup: April 11, 2011
The protests go on in Wisconsin, mirrored in the state of Washington. Heh. Sorta sad.
So the president put out a budget 2 months ago; oddly he's putting out another budget soon, having conceded that the American people aren't happy about the crazy spending he's been doing.
Juan Williams says the company line for liberals: Paul Ryan's cuts are on the "backs of the poor and elderly....the rich get off like scoundrels..."
IOW, all your money belong to us, the big DAWG, and youse fleas better hand it over.
It seems the tide is changing. Could the wishy washy Republicans actually stand up over time?
Actually an action hero has emerged in the face of Paul Ryan, the focused, no-drama, schoolteacher with the charts who has faced down the ultracool Mr. Obama, whose big ears cast long shadows on the dusty street.
Over at NRO, Chuckie Schumer, um, speaks, sort of:
You'll be happy to know that civilization is saved in Boston, where the mayor has banned the sale of something we call pop and its ilk.
Once again, though, you can know that the country itself is in good hands, as the president, unworried about energy costs and their impact on the economy, wild weather, the Middle East crazies, the horrendous debt he's accumulated....hits the links!
Now that's sacrifice! Because he's not addicted! Seriously! He just wants to be anonymous again!
And from Fox News, it is noted that the most secular country in the world Japan, people are turning to prayer.

So what if our compassion made more and more folks dependent on the government? So what if it robbed them of self-reliance? So what if it drove them onto the dole or into a public-employee union? (Same thing, when you stop to think about it.) That was the whole point! If it wasn’t the full monty of a Cloward-Piven strategy, it was certainly the next best thing, bleeding you heartless plutocrats dry while making you feel guilty about your abject lack of sympathy for those less fortunate than your own rotten selves. And if we had to wreck the country financially in order to save it from its own worst impulses and corrupt history, that’s a small price to pay for social and economic justice. And, hey, I dunno if you heard about that whole gay caveman theory, but it's really, really *how do we say* stupid. CNN has some doubters writing on their website, but I'm sure there are many more who actually believe it, based on the flimsy, insubstantial conclusions drawn by the pointy headed "experts."

Book Review: Righteous Indignation *or* a Tea Partier's Guide to (the) Revolution
So I pre-ordered Righteous Indignation: Excuse me while I save the world by Andrew Breitbart and was surprised when it arrived on my doorstep a week ago.
Breitbart's been on tv for a few years, in various stages of clarity and anger. Recently he's entered an admirably combative stage, occasionally shouting back at the buffoons who protest him and his various causes.
One of the greatest contributions Breitbart has made to the media are his websites: Big Hollywood, Big Journalism and Big Government. The Pigford Scandal immediately comes to mind as one of the most significant scandals of the decade yet to fully bloom.
The first thing you learn about Andrew Breitbart in this book is that he's no angel;his college career was a nightmare of everything parents worry about when they send their kids off to the hands of ivory towered baby boomers who've retreated into ruining youngbrains rather than burning bras and protesting in the state capitol building (wait...).
Breitbart's college years are horrifyingly enlightening. Suffice it to say they make an interesting read.
In the chapter entitled The Complex Strikes Back, he details the sophisticated mechanisms in place to make the right, in particular Bush (who has a knack of doing that himself) look silly, stupid and out of touch. You might notice that the whole "dissent is patriotic" fell out of favor immediately upon the appearance of the Tea Partiers. At any rate, those are some organizations Soros has set up.
I learned a great deal from reading this book; one point Breitbart makes is that he has an advantage as a single individual "who can act swiftly and make decisions on the fly," rather than having to consult others in an emergency board meeting with a "leviathan" such as ACORN. Rather than pity himself as solitary entity, Breitbart has made himself into his own complex that responds immediately.
Some of the events we knew about are told from AB's point of view, including the outrageous attempt to make Tea Partiers look racist by MSNBC by excluding the race of an individual carrying a gun at a rally.
AB also describes the SEARCHLIGHT egging that we all saw on tv. It was pretty deliberate and nasty but Breitbart shouted them down.
Most helpful is Chapter 7 entitled Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Revolutionaries. Here are specific tips to help the Tea Party crowd overcome their political inexperience:
1. Don't be afraid to go into enemy territory.
2. Expose the left for who they are-in their own words.
3. Be open about your secrets.
4. Don't let the Complex use its PC lexicon to characterize you and shape the narrative.
5. Control your own story-don't let the Complex do it.
6. Ubiquity is the key.
7. Engage in the social arena.
8. Don't pretend to know more than you do.
9. Don't let them pretend to know more than they do.
10. Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.

There's much more than that as far as specific tips, but number 10 is pretty important and it's something the right wing is just learning to use. We need more Greg Gutfield types, which is why he'd be the perfect choice to replace Glenn Beck at 5:00 on FNC. His wit is unsurpassed on the right and he's downright funny.
There's much more. It's both educational and encouraging. His voice is vigorous and somewhat bombastic, but it surely is needed for we FLEAS who are biting the DOG of government.
It's a good read.
Personally I took a good deal of courage from this testimonial; it's amusing when we see various people on tv talking about the "Tea Partiers," some purporting to represent the points of view of the millions of us who exist across this country.
There's a lot of negativity out there and we have to learn to deal with it.
When we (not the Borg, just those of us who rose mysteriously rose up at once) started this venture, we didn't really know why. We just woke up, answered a call. We thought it was a short term project, but it's turning out to be long term. We didn't know that when we started, but we're in it for good.
That is why this guide to [the] revolution is significant. It's politically savvy and it makes us so. We're not operatives, nor do most of us want to be. We just want what's good for this country and we want to be able to defend ourselves.
We fleas didn't necessarily start out politically astute, but we're learning, thanks to the likes of the *courageous* Andrew Breitbart.
Thanks.
We're listening.

I say we won this one
Following politics is ugly.
It's probably not for the faint hearted either.
If you're really unlucky, you've been condemned by some family tradition or moment of enlightenment in recent years to follow what's going on in Washington like a zombie, watching elections carefully and with bated breath while other family members roll their eyes and sigh at your distracted state and agitated behavior.
Maybe you've also been contributing to carefully selected political aspirants who you hope will actually keep their word.
Or viewing each advance and retreat with hope and curses.
Wondering when and if they'll cave.
Trying to figure out how the heck to get your old life back.
Knowing that that ain't gonna happen as long as the current crew is in charge, and even if we are successful in booting them you'll have to watch the rats so they don't relapse into the orgy of greed and power currently in vogue in the nation's capital.
So when this budget deal came up, it was like betting money on the horses, except you can't decide if you won or lost.
To be truthful, it's hard to tell what anybody thinks in DC about this too, since everybody's playing their hand to the hilt these days, saying and doing contradictory things to try to win at whatever cost.
Boehner's position in all this has been tenuous, uncertain.
I can't decide if he looks like a deer in the headlights or a saloon gambler from a Louis L'Amour western.
Tea Partiers are angry and relentless; they see what's coming down the pike and it ain't far away and it ain't minor.
Being new at politics, Tea Partiers aren't patient and they aren't nuanced, which explains why they aren't pleased with the deal that was cut a couple days ago.
To many, it seems like he caved, like he didn't get much.
Which he didn't, of course (continuing my bad habit of using incomplete sentences to make my point).
A few billion in light of the trillions in debt we are running up through the insane spending policies seems like, well, is, nothing.
What some fail to understand is that this is a long haul deal.
The people who are trying to overthrow capitalism in this country have been planning this carefully for a very long time; the problem isn't going to go away easily, even if Obama cut a substantial amount of money from some of the ludicrous spending projects he's put into place.
Yet the conversation has changed and for the first time Washington is talking about cutting spending rather than increasing it.
The (untrustworthy) Obama is actually trying to take credit for cutting instead of increasing spending, climbing the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to crow that he'd actually worked together with Republicans on something, in spite of reports that indicated negotiations were "tense" and "heated."
In fact, Obama (the praise from previous years still ringing in his years) agreed to actually cut something and to some riders that have significance, if not symbolic, then at least discomforting. Washington Post:
Plus, the rider preventing D.C. funds for abortiona remained in the deal. Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will also bring votes to the Senate floor on Planned Parenthood funding and on defunding ObamaCare. If this isn’t a rout I don’t know what is.Politico, also not to be trusted, says Boehner won big in this deal:
Here’s the unvarnished pitch House Speaker John Boehner would love to make to his conservative critics if he could just let it fly: “You are winning, and winning decisively. So stop your whining.”
And here’s the unvarnished truth about that pitch: Boehner would be spot on.WE citizens, we fleas on the back of the DOG, aren't going away.
And we're looking forward to watching those so-called blue dog Democrats vote AGAIN to fund the most unpopular Obamacare.
I say we win this one.
The fight continues
Well, it looks like the unions in Ohio are gearing up for a fight, unfairly, as usual.
So what are they planning to do?
They're planning to confiscate $50 from every OEA union member. They'll start with a vote taken by all the local unions which will pass, of course, because we know how that goes.
The Columbus Dispatch:
How is this legal?
As SB5 goes to referendum in the fall, the unions are planning on ploughing $20 million into indoctrinating the public about the negatives of the bill.
Not everyone is taking this lying down.
Red State covered it too, however cursorily.
Firefighters and police are considering a similar assessment.
If you think it's easy to go up against a union, take a look at this case, as represented by Red State, in which a worker had to report a safety violation committed by another union worker, but then was fined for being disloyal to a union member. The NLRB ruled against the union but the court supported the fine:

The Columbus Dispatch:
In an email dated March 22 and obtained by The Dispatch, Ohio Education Association executive director Larry Wicks said teachers and other unionized school personnel might be charged a one-time assessment of $50 to generate more than $5 million to fight Senate Bill 5. A spokesman said yesterday that the OEA's representative assembly will vote on the charge in early May.So teachers around the state will be forced, once again, to pay for things in which they may or may not support.

Not everyone is taking this lying down.
"I am very upset with the OEA Union," Ash's March 23 email read. "I am a classified employee at a local school system and recevied a letter today to inform the membership that the OEA Assembly is going to assess each member $50 to fight against SB5. I am a fiscal conservative and belong to the Tea Party. I am appalled that theOEA feels they can (commandeer) funds from my pay check without my approval. I have had to sit by and watch my hard earned money fund the left for years and now another blow to me. I support SB5 and understand we need to turn around Ohio if we are to succeed. I would urge you to makeOhio a "right to work" state so I can get out of this union and continue on feeding the socialist programs the left endorse. I am also contacting an attorney to see if there is any hope of stopping the OEA from using my pay check as a personal bank account for their agenda. Thanks for listening and stand tough, we need you in Ohio."This should be personal choice.
Red State covered it too, however cursorily.
There’s something perversely peculiar when anti-democratic unions require their members to pay for campaigns against laws that democratically-elected officials enacted, just so those union bosses can continue a system that enables the union bosses to require more money from those members. There are options.
Firefighters and police are considering a similar assessment.

The NLRB ruled against the union but the court supported the fine:
While it seems unfathomable that a union’s right to enforce its rules would trump an individual’s right to report an unsafe condition (even if it involved a fellow union member), it is just another example of the length that some unions will go in controlling members’ work lives.
For many union members, it doesn’t pay to cross their union. In fact, it can prove costly if they do.
