Only "white," not "great white" shark

  Political correctness gone amok, a Fish and Game marine biologist told AOL News that she preferred "'white shark' because 'great white' is kind of theatrical, like 'Jaws.'" 
  Shark attacks have increased off the California coast.
  The shark that attacked swimmer Lucas Ransom is estimated to be 17-18 feet long and up to 4,000 pounds. 
  Sounds like a great white to me.

Schiller/NPR planning takeover of media outlets

  No, this isn't a new Alex Jones conspiracy theory. No, that isn't excited hyperbole in light of the Schiller firing of Juan Williams. And, no, that's not a conservative meme being circulated on blogs and websites.
  And it's been in the works for quite a while. It will cost billions and billions of dollars. Of course, all they have to do is find ways to get you to pay for their leftist shilling.
  Here are the facts. Schiller and NPR and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting are trying to "save" journalism by creating a vast network of television, radio and print journalists to take over not only nationally, but local news stations. 
  The funding for this will come from a variety of sources, most paid by the taxpayers, including taxes on your internet connection, your purchases of such electronic devices as cell phones and ipads, and on taxes of for-profit news organizations like Fox. 
  IOW, they want Fox to pay for their far left shilling and interpretation of the news and they are conspiring with the FCC to make this happen.
  As always, all they have to do is steal from the taxpayer in the guise of some other "public good" project. Read over at Human Events Town Hall. These people need to be stopped:

A May Free Press report describes NPR’s Public Media Platform as a first step in their plans for a government media takeover. The platform is in the early stages, and its purpose is to attract billions more in government funding. “We are going to strengthen and bolster our representation to Congress and to other entities that can help fund all of us,” Schiller told the NPR board in her 2009 speech about a public media takeover of news reporting.

All of this makes Schiller’s very public drop-kick of Williams far more than a hissy fit that got out of hand. It was a declaration of war against commercial media in general and Fox in particular. Who wins will be determined by what voters do at the ballot box in the coming years.

None too bright teachers go to a conference, get drunk, make scurrilous comments, need to be fired. Unbelievable.

The Intolerance of the Left

  A primary example of Leftist intolerance is the firing of Juan Williams, who is well liked by many FNC viewers, both left and right. For some reason, even the odious Bob Beckel and Alan Colmes have at times appeared to be almost human in their verbal panel exchanges. That affection coming from the right is probably why NPR felt compelled to fire him.
  Now, it is significant to note some of the other rather nasty things NPR has allowed its commentators to say with impunity. Not surprisingly, all the nasty things have been directed at conservatives, the right and Republicans. Here's one from Newsmax:

In December 1995, Codrescu said of the evangelical belief of the Rapture, in which Christ's faithful would miraculously ascend from the earth before the Second Coming: "The evaporation of 4 million who believe this crap would leave the world an instantly better place."

  By now, you've probably heard some of the other comments, including Nina Totenberg's remark that she hoped Jesse Helms or his grandchild would die of AIDS, if there is a God. There's more here, but you get the drift.
  In fact, NPR thought it was really funny to have someone create a cartoon called "Learn to Speak Teabag," which mocked, of course, tea partiers. Pretty much everyone knows by now the origin of the word "teabag" which was made mainstream by the likes of Anderson Cooper in a smirking interview. This animation remained on their website for well over a year. You can see it here:

  Now you might think that the Right is intolerant because of the constant ridicule and condemnation from the left.

  But even some folks in the gay community disagree with this assertion. Hillbuzz has a great article about this regarding hateful behavior from the left toward gay conservatives:

The Left, on the other hand, threatens violence when they find out you are conservative.  They get up in your face to intimidate you for being gay and daring to step out of line with whatever the DNC is issuing as talking points that day.  They don’t want you to think for yourselves or vote in your own economic best interests because the identity-blocs the Democrats are based upon require you to identity-vote Democrat your entire life if you are gay.  No questions ever asked, no individual thought allowed.  The punishments are harsh for stepping outside the approved circle of thought.  You are ostracized, personally attacked, and subjected to intense bullying.

  In fact, Hillbuzz boys say, the Right tends to be much more tolerant, offering prayers that they will change their lifestyles. That is not to say that the Right doesn't have issues with gays; certainly no conservatives wants their children indoctrinated concerning the homosexual agenda. Neither, however, do reasonable gays want to do that.
  Hillbuzz points to the Tammy Bruce article regarding the same issue. You may have seen Tammy on FNC as a commentator. She is former liberal lesbian (only former on the liberal part) who was at one time a NOW director in Los Angeles. Here's a smidgen from Tammy's article on the intolerance of the left from the UK Guardian:

Having made my point, I trust, I'll now slip out of my snark suit and share a little secret with you. The real story of bigotry and intolerance is the fact that it lives and thrives on the left. As a gay woman who spent most of her adult life pushing the cart for liberal causes with liberal friends in a liberal city, I found that sexism, racism and homophobia are staples in the liberal world. The huge irony is liberals spend every ounce of energy promoting the notion that they are the banner carriers of individualism and personal freedom, yet the hammer comes down on anyone who dares not to conform to, or who dissents even in part from, the liberal agenda.

  And who sets the tone for this? Oh, the intolerant behavior of the left has been around for decades. Just mention you listen to Rush or watch FNC in a group of liberals and watch what happens, if you can stand it. 
  The person who COULD set the tone for tolerance is our current occupant of the White House. Yet how does he behave? This is his latest statement from The Hill:

"And if Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, we're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's gonna be harder — and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2," he said. 

  Got that? Punish our enemies. That would be Americans who disagree with The One.
  His angry rhetoric and calls for punishment aren't unusual. In fact, they're standard protocol. Links at Gateway Pundit:

  Yet we know all this. Those of us who study have seen it over and over.

  Conservatives need to be a little more intolerant of the left's intolerance.

  That includes anyone who uses the term "teabagger" to refer to tea partiers anymore.

Voter fraud watch

  This is a great concern in this election. If you recall, Al Franken won Norma Coleman's seat in Minnesota after 6 months of rangling it was decided Franken had won by 312 votes. Many more votes were cast by felons, an illegal act. (Come on, let's get real. Do you HONESTLY think felons are going to vote for Republicans?)
  Now Malkin has the rundown on all all the scams being run by desperate people around the country. The states in which we know voter fraud has been detected are as follows: Colorad, Washington state, Florida, New York, Texas, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio. This is why Secretary of State positions are so important in each state and why George Soros funded his SoS project which installed 11 of 13 democrats (Soros indebted?) in states around the country, including Ohio, so that they could help decide what votes to count and what votes not to count. You know. Like count the prisoners' ballots but not the military's.

Medical rationing board already established by Obama

The medical rationing board was put into the stimulus. Dr. Janda will explain this in this video. This is a remarkable and disgusting expose of what doctors are facing if they do not toe the line in Obamacare, including $100,000 fines and JAIL. All treatments will be based on the age of the patient and what they have to offer society. David Janda is a contributor to Big Government. What fool thought you could add 32 million people, no extra doctors (affirmative action doctors are on the way with the new medical colleges), cut $500 BILLION from Medicare and the plan would cost LESS and cut the deficit? Fools.

"Take his endorsement and shove it"

  Whoo. Just announced. Rhode Island's democrat gubernatorial candidate, upon learning The One Who Is To Turn Back the Tides is visiting RI but will not endorse him says that Obama can "take his endorsement and shove it."
  There is an interesting dynamic at work here. While on one hand, some politicians are excused for not wanting to appear with controversial candidates, others are savagely attacked and paid back for their disloyalty. 
  UPDATE: And now a dem admits he didn't VOTE for Obama but rather McCain? If he did or didn't, it doesn't matter. It's a remarkable statement.
  And now Howard Kurtz complains at The Daily Beast that the the presidency of the United States has been "downsized." And why would that be? Because He Who Will Turn Back the Tides frequents late night chat shows and The View? Hm. Didn't think there'd be a price for that, did they.

Evening roundup-October 24

  Voters are really, really mad at Obama and the mess he's made. In fact, they're so mad that the gay and lesbian community may be voting against him. Of course, AP/Yahoo justifies this anger due to "lack of anger at progress" in gay and lesbian issues.

  Does it ever occur to any of these dodo birds that maybe gay and lesbian voters actually care about the country and may even be patriotic and upset with what Obama and his thugs have done to it?

  Now that a judge has ruled that Joe Miller's work records should be unsealed, Professor Jacobsen asks, "When will Obama's records be unsealed?" What's good for the goose...He also mentions the the Pure Vermont slogan that so many Vermont businessmen use is, um, racist? But only since a Republican starts using it as a slogan, mind you.   Having given up on this next election. AP/Yahoo moves on to a more graceful narrative for the biggest LOSER in the election (headline): "Republicans eye big win as Obama seeks to turn tide." And AP/Yahoo continue to shill and cover for Obama. Here's the latest headline: "Obama likely to focus on deficit in next 2 years."
  Yeah. Like we believe that. He's going to because he has to do something to get reelected other than what he's been doing.
  But he won't. Not really.
  The article goes on to lament the uncooperativeness of the nasty Republicans and how MUCH The One regrets having to spend so much money on crap stimulus projects.

  Voters are fed up with the bossy Obama. 
  If you were thinking about buying one of those eco-efficient little deathtraps known as mini-cars quadricycles like the G-Wiz, think again. The inventors wouldn't even let their crash dummies participate in the test trials because they cost too much. Human life, OTOH, is apparently expendable. This is a G-Wiz. Probably don't watch this if you're claustrophobic.

  Meh. What budget crisis? He's working on it, he's working on it. Especially by blowing it on another vacation. Spare no expense! Book every room! Whee! So glad the rules don't apply to us, just like they don't apply to James Cameron!!!! Carbon footprint, anyone?
  Berkeley's trying to figure out the tea party movement. Give up. Just like they've given up trying to figure out God. Heh.
  When you're anointed, it's okay to laugh at your guests when you disagree with their opinions, even if you are wrong, wrong, wrong.
  Did you know college administrators now outnumber faculty? Wow. That makes sense. Plus it must be the reason college costs so much, huh, cuz I bet all those administrators have some really important work to do to keep their jobs, right?
  Oh, and watch this. You HAVE to watch this smackdown. It's awesome.

The post office, in charge of your health care

  In a natural transition because of the way the health care law was written, more and more employers are dropping health care coverage under private insurance plans. This means that eventually Americans will be covered only by government health care.

While it's too early to proclaim the demise of job-based coverage, corporate number crunchers are looking at options that could lead to major changes.

"The economics of dropping existing coverage is about to become very attractive to many employers, both public and private," said Gov. Phil Bredesen, D-Tenn.

  Imagine. The post office in charge of your health care. 

  (I picture in my mind the fat postal worker shaking her head as I pound on the door of the post office on a Saturday at 11:55. They had already locked the doors. I picture the 2 people taking numerous customers in line, while 4 or 5 workers flit back and forth talking about lunch, laughing. I picture the BMV, with 20 customers in line, and the casual sneering attitude of "Who's next?" while they snack on gummy fish and talk casually on the cell phone "between" customers. Their attitude changes when a customer approaches the desk.)

  Now many companies are reaching a logical conclusion. Because of rising costs, it is more sensible to drop health care coverage for employees and just pay the fine.

  I picture the teenager, sneering, saying, "It's all paid for. The new health care plan won't cost us anything." 

  Who could imagine accepting millions and millions more people added to the health care rolls, at no cost? Adding adult age "children," without cost?  Was this practical? Was it wise? Was it real?

  Of course not.

  But it was the plan. All along.

  And it's the reason the election is going the way it is.

How to cry in 48 seconds

It happened Wednesday night at the beginning of a debate between Democratic incumbent Melissa Bean, GOP challenger Joe Walsh and Green Party candidate Bill Scheurer.  The debate for Illinois 8th congressional district took place at Grayslake Central High School. While League of Women Voters moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish began explaining the rules of the debate an audience member raised his hand and (when called upon) asked if they were going to start with the Pledge of Allegiance. When she said no, the audience booed and almost all in the crowd of more than 300 stood and enthusiastically recited it anyway. Tate-Bradish, who joined in the pledge, issued a scolding when the crowd finished saying they are not allowed to disrespect her.

Big surprise. The "moderator" is an ACORN worker. 

 After the spontaneous Pledge, Tate-Bradish concluded with this remark: "

A little flustered, Tate-Bradish admonished the crowd: “Ladies and gentleman, I hope … I hope that that will be the last time that I am disrespected.”"

Huh. I guess for a democrat saying the pledge is being disrespected. 

Wikileaks: The Left discredited, WMDs found

  Over at Tigerhawk:

Glenn Reynolds notes that the early revelations from the "Wikileaks" exposure of classified Iraq war documents do not actually reflect well on the political left. In particular, the documents reveal that The Lancet's two infamous studies on casualties in Iraq,curiously released in October 2004 and October 2006, respectively, grossly overstated the death toll from that war. This should not surprise us, insofar as the second such study (which claimed 600,000 war-related deaths in Iraq through the summer of 2006, or almost six times the 109,000 deaths through 2009 revealed by Wikileaks) was funded and promoted by George Soros, a fact that was ignored in virtually all of the press coverage back when it mattered. 

  Even the despicable Andrew Sullivan acknowledges WMDs were found, although, of course, Sullivan says there was no evidence Hussein was actually planning on using the WMDs, an argument that's never worked for the left regarding nuclear weapons and even though Hussein HAD used mustard gas on his own people.
  Hm. This is an interesting development. The left is discredited by the wikileaks documents and Bush was proven correct.
  Hm.

Just how far are you willing to go to win?

  We're down to the wire. 
  The situation is dicey.
  The media is hyping the races, as they always do this season, repeatedly stating that everything's tight, the races are close, what will happen...blah blah blah. The tv stations also make money off tight races and election hype.
  Meanwhile among politicians, principles maintained throughout a life/career/campaign are pushed to the limit. 
  Now you find out what you are made of. Now you discover the reality of applying ideal principles to everyday events and your behavior.
  What will you do?
  J.C. Watts said, "Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught."
  The races that are being fought this midterm election will shape the future of politics for years.
  Promises of integrity have been made by politicians, promises to value this great country, promises to respect our traditions and laws, promises to uphold the Constitution, promises to keep promises.
  Now that we're are closing in on the finish, we need to look around and see who is willing to sacrifice any pretense of maintaining principles during stressful times. 
  It doesn't take much to tout high principles when everything's going fine.
  True character is revealed in times of stress.
  So let's take a look at the some of the things that are happening around the nation.

• Some politicians are modifying their "ethics" pledges on whose money they'll take. Apparently all the rules change when you're behind and you have to do anything to win. Are they ethics pledges if you aren't willing to keep them under pressure? Read at Daily Caller:

Facing unusually stiff competition at the ballot box, at least two Democratic congressmen are cutting corners on the ethics pledges they made regarding whom they’ll accept money from, disclosure records show.

Rep. Barney Frank, Massachusetts Democrat, has accepted nearly $50,000 from individuals employed by companies that received government bailouts under the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

• Some politicians are sending out illegal immigrants to rally the vote for them. Washington Post:

SEATTLE -- When Maria Gianni is knocking on voters' doors, she's not bashful about telling people she is in the country illegally. She knows it's a risk to advertise to strangers that she's here illegally - but one worth taking in what she sees as a crucial election. 

• Additionally, some politicians are willing to expose illegals to prosecution, throw lies at the opponent and use any kind of argument they can to disqualify the opponent, rather than stand on their own merit. Regardless the documented facts, they accuse the opposition of absurd crimes, hoping the accusations stick.
• Some politicians have created and/or assisted 3rd party candidates to draw votes away from their opponents. They have lied and cheated and financially supported the 3rd party candidates. Rather than wanting people to vote for them based on their own positions and principles, they have engaged in tricking voters to vote for someone falsely associated with the tea party. This is happening in Nevada, California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan.
• Some politicians have taken students out of school, handed them ballots for their own party only, driven them to vote and then rewarded this illegal act with ice cream. Though people aren't even allowed to wear political t-shirts to vote in the voting booth, Cincinnati Public Schools claims this wasn't electioneering.
• Some people want to impeach Chief Justice Roberts over a SCOTUS decision that has damaged, they claim, their campaigns. Apparently it's only the unions that should have access to buckets and buckets of cash to advertise against candidates, rather than the ordinary citizen and other interest groups who have a stake in the elections. Oregon Live.
• Some politicians have created thousands and thousands of fake ballots. Some have sued American citizens who have tried to expose the fraud. Some have had their DNA taken to figure who aided ACORN to submit numerous fake absentee ballots, some even refusing to give up their DNA; it's normal to fake ballots, say some officials in Troy, New York. That's the way we do things in Troy in both parties. (Really?) In fact, one particular party has a long history of voter fraud. Mysteriously, in one case all the voting machines involved in one voter fraud case went up in flames.
• Some politicians are trawling for dirt on their opponents. Though opposition research is sometimes valuable, necessary and effective, some politicians are going back 30 or more years to college prank days, using anonymous sources to defame opponents with suspect testimonies, 
• Some politicians have resorted to insulting voters, claiming their constituents are "backward thinking" and living in "rural areas" (unlike the anointed ruling class, who live squeezed by the thousands in a few square miles in big cities.) Others are claiming that voters who reject their ideas aren't "thinking clearly" or "straight" because they're "scared"; of course, voters who do not agree with certain politicians have also been accused of being bitter Bible toting gun clingers. 
• Some people criticize organizations that contribute money to opposition candidates while their own party has received MORE money than the opposition candidates of the other party. Though this particular party takes more money from unions than their opponents, the party that gets all the union money (millions and millions more than anybody else) feels itself inconvenienced that even the piddlin' amount the other party gets should be banned. It isn't fair, they reason, because they are anointed.
• Members of one party make sure military ballots are not received, while inmate ballots are hand-delivered. After all, crooks will vote for crooks, right? Imagine a crook voting for a Republican. Not.

  This is just a little refresher course on the tactics some politicians feel necessary to win. These particular accusations are all, surprise! committed by ONE PARTICULAR PARTY! Which one? 
  Dirty tricks go on in any political environment. No one doubts that. It's wrong, no matter who does it, democrats or Republicans. 
  Voting for anyone, anyone who cheats is unacceptable and only encourages thievery in this great nation, founded on principles of justice and freedom.
  But it simply must be pointed out that, lately, the dirty tricks aren't even being hidden anymore by ONE PARTICULAR PARTY. 
  That party is the democrat party.
  From the very politicized Department of Justice that refuses to enforce voting rights for whites, right down to the illegals who march from door to door demanding their version of "justice." 
  These politicians have not only gotten caught cheating, but seemed to glory in it, ratcheting up their behavior daily.  
  Having become accustomed to being the ruling class, even first term politicians like Alan Grayson feel entitled to retain the seat, resorting to any manner of tricksiness to make sure it happens.
  This is what desperation looks like.
  This is when and where character is revealed.
  Character is also revealed by those who reinforce cheaters by voting for them.
  Perhaps we need to alter J.C. Watts's quote, ever so slightly.
  And then perhaps we need to live by it ourselves and enforce it through our votes.
   "Character is doing the right thing when nobody AND EVERYBODY is looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught."
  Now go forth and vote.

  Remember True the Vote, the group of volunteers that spent hours going over public election records and discovered massive fraud in Texas? They turned their findings over to the Obama DOJ, in expectation of legal action.
  And they got it.
  True the Vote is being investigated by the Obama DOJ.
  True the Vote is being sued by the Texas democrat party.
  True the Vote is being sued by ACORN.

Of course, this may explain why True the Vote has been hit with a lawsuit by the Texas Democratic Party, an ethics complaint by Texans for Public Justice, and another lawsuit (for defamation) by Houston Votes and the Houston lawyer behind the voter registration drive that turned in multiple problematic registration forms (Harris County estimated over 7,000). That same organization has also sued Harris County — claiming the county is barred from correcting the voter registration problems!

Gee, I wonder who's committing the fraud?

  Okay, Mr. President (and you, too, Mr. TOTUS), I know we don't see eye to eye on most issues, although I respect your position and your right to be who you are. You seem like a nice man, although I do wonder at times why you do what you do, like the votes you have cast for abortion, some of which have had hideous consequences.  I understand that you never left the campaign trail; that you feel that you must appeal to your base; that you never stopped ridiculing those with whom you disagree rather than try to reach out and broaden your base; that you love to talk, be seen and mingle with those who apotheosize you; that you think your job includes golfing regularly; that you like to appear to be genial and charismatic because that moves your message forward.
  I understand all these things because you are a political creature who has been lifted from relative obscurity to being the most powerful, adored man in the world. 
  I understand you had to dump the Slurpee from your little bag of fun metaphors to ridicule people like me. (I don't particularly care for Slurpees, but that's neither here nor there.) Well, what I understand is that you dumped the Slurpee imagery because even your biggest fans, the media, complained. Washington Examiner:

Many people began rolling their eyes at, say, the 10th time they heard the Slurpee story. And on Tuesday, a reporter asked White House spokesman Robert Gibbs about it. Why Slurpees? Gibbs didn't have a lot to say.

  So you dropped the Slurpee thing because the press complained. (OOOPS! It's back!)
  Now, I know you don't like me, because I'm the opposition. One of the Slurpee drinkers. One of the car drivers, even though your party has been in charge of the budget since 2006. One of the rednecks, the bitter clingers and confused angry folks.
  So I know you won't really listen to me.
  But I really feel I need to say this. 
  That whole Republicans driving the car into the ditch is getting REALLY OLD! 
  IT'S STUPID! 
  EVERYONE'S SICK OF IT! 
  Even if you believe it, the imagery's a LOSER.
