Malkin covers Lord Monckton

The warning repeated around the web. Read it at Malkin:
Lord Christopher Monckton, former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, spoke at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN last week on the UN Climate Change treaty scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009. He was hosted by the Minnesota Free Market Institute.

Minnesota Majority posted the video of his speech, entitled “Is Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty?” He wouldn’t be the first (see here andhere).

Chicago tea party ROCKS!!!

Obama poised to cede sovereignty of US

Americans reject European ideals

You know, that government should pay for everything with the 90% taxes they collect. That sort of thing:
Barack Obama's European tendencies aren't in doubt. His policies on government spending, taxation, health care and carbon emissions would all tend to bring America in line with European norms, to a far greater degree than any other president of the last 40 years and probably any president ever.

And what of America's special place in the world? "I believe in American exceptionalism," Obama said on one of his trips to Europe, "just as I suspect that Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism." In other words, not at all. One cannot imagine Presidents Roosevelt, Truman or Kennedy, Eisenhower or Reagan, uttering such sentiments.

Obama-the embarrassment

Paul Ibrahim here:
Obama went on to repair our relations with the world by defiling our relations with our best friends. It began with his expulsion from the Oval Office of a Winston Churchill bust, and was followed, to the shock of the British, by the omission of a formal dinner upon Gordon Brown’s visit and a cancellation of a joint press conference due to “snow.” This was before Obama threw a box of (inoperative) DVDs at Brown in exchange for the latter lavishing Obama with a pen holder carved out of wood from a warship that helped fight slavery, not to mention other superb gifts.

Govt meddling led to housing crisis

Read Thomas Sowell here:
Our current economic meltdown results from the federal government — under both Democrats and Republicans — declaring home ownership to be a good thing and treating the percentage of families who own their own home as if it was some sort of magic number that had to be kept growing — without regard to the repercussions on other things.

We are now living with those repercussions, which include the worst unemployment in decades. That is the price we are paying for increasing home ownership from 64 percent to 69 percent.

How did we get from home ownership to 15 million unemployed Americans? By ignoring the fact that there was a reason why only 64 percent of families owned their own home. More people would have liked to be homeowners, but did not qualify for loans under the mortgage-lending standards that had been in place for decades.

Rush tells his side of the story

At the WSJ:
David Checketts, an investor and owner of sports teams, approached me in late May about investing in the St. Louis Rams football franchise. As a football fan, I was intrigued. I invited him to my home where we discussed it further. Even after informing him that some people might try to make an issue of my participation, Mr. Checketts said he didn't much care. I accepted his offer.

It didn't take long before my name was selectively leaked to the media as part of the Checketts investment group. Shortly thereafter, the media elicited comments from the likes of Al Sharpton. In 1998 Mr. Sharpton was found guilty of defamation and ordered to pay $65,000 for falsely accusing a New York prosecutor of rape in the 1987 Tawana Brawley case. He also played a leading role in the 1991 Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews "diamond merchants") and 1995 Freddie's Fashion Mart riot.

Executive asked to give back salary

Apparently Obama's pay czar is at work, determining who gets to keep their paycheck based on political affiliation. Follow this link to read at Powerline:
Today the Obama administration's "pay czar" demanded that Ken Lewis, Chairman of the Board of Bank of America, work for free. The "czar," Kenneth Feinberg, pressured Lewis not only to forgo all remaining compensation for 2009, but to repay the $1 million he has already received this year. Lewis acquiesced, saying that "he felt it was not in the best interest of Bank of America for him to get involved in a dispute with the paymaster." I'm sure he was right about that.

Response to this outrage has been surprisingly muted. In my view, it is hard to imagine anything more un-American than a "pay czar" empowered to order businessmen to work for free.

Schoolhouse Shariah

Hard as it may be to believe, school authorities in California have instituted "education" of Shariah law, that misogynistic method of keeping women from becoming too uppity. California...so far off the deep end:
Multiculturalism: California's educrats have put out new rules for teaching Islamic studies to seventh-graders in public schools, and they are as biased as ever. They'll also likely spread eastward.

Very upsetting news

I'm picking up this story around the web and wondering how much truth is in it. It has to do with a speech given by Lord Monckton concerning some sort of international treaty (Treaty of Copenhagen) Obama is going to sign in December, giving away US sovereignty and assigning this country massive taxes to pay to third world countries for our guilt in using so much energy. Here's hoping this is hyperbole. Unfortunately, if Obama did this, who would be surprised:
And the trouble is this; if that treaty is signed, if your Constitution says that it takes precedence over your Constitution (sic), and you can’t resign from that treaty unless you get agreement from all the other state parties – And because you’ll be the biggest paying country, they’re not going to let you out of it.

So, thank you, America. You were the beacon of freedom to the world. It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free. But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy, and your humanity away forever. And neither you nor any subsequent government you may elect will have any power whatsoever to take it back. That is how serious it is. I’ve read the treaty. I’ve seen this stuff about [world] government and climate debt and enforcement. They are going to do this to you whether you like it or not.

Explaining reconcilation

or what the Dems are going to use to ram through health care on a budget reconcilation (also called cheating)
The Democrats quietly tinkered with Obamacare legislation in the House in order to give Senate Democrats the ability to pass a health-care bill with just a simple majority of 51 votes. By marking up H.R. 3200 as legislation open to the “reconciliation” process, Rangel and company mischievously used a budgetary loophole to make their final legislative amalgam filibuster-proof.

Sound complicated? It is. To explain it all, NRO caught up with Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee. Rangel’s legislative maneuvers “initiated the process to jam their bill through via reconciliation,” says Ryan.

$9 million per job?

No, you say. You're joking. (Follow this link.) I DON"T THINK SO:
WASHINGTON -- The stimulus isn't doing a thing to help the unemployment rate in the New York metro area, according to shocking new White House data released yesterday.

The feds have spent a half-billion dollars on 10 of the largest government stimulus contracts in New York City and Long Island -- but created or retained only 54 jobs.

That's an astounding $9 million per job.

The largest contract, at Brookhaven labs on Long Island for $261 million, has put only 26 people on the payroll, while two contracts for $23 million apiece to rehab the Thurgood Marshall Courthouse in Manhattan hasn't created a single job, according to new data.

False quotes of Rush linked to law firm associated with Obama

Apparently several of the partners have gone on to work for The One. This is a developing story. Should be interesting.
"The quotes were added by a user with the IP address of 69.64.213.146. This address has been used mostly to make changes to the article about Rush, but also Karl Rove, Sean Hannity,.. James Dobson and Sara Palin from 2005 until earlier this year.

"While others have noted this in various forums, no one seems to have made the connection that this IP address is used as a gateway by the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP (seehere, for example) that all users from that IP address come from the pbwt.com domain.)"

Over $500,000 PER JOB

At the Heritage Foundation:
The Obama administration released the first hard numbers on how many jobs their $787 billion stimulus package has created or saved on Recovery.gov today. The number: 30,383 jobs from roughly $16 billion worth of stimulus contracts awarded directly by federal agencies.

Crunching the numbers, that comes to $533,000 per job “saved or created.” To put those 30,383 jobs in perspecitve, consider that the U.S. economy lost 263,000 net jobs just last month and has lost 3.6 million net jobs since President Barack Obama was sworn into office.

Gore doesn't like to be challenged

Because many of the details in his movie "An Inconvenient Truth" are wrong or fabricated. Plus he flies all over the world adding to the carbon footprint he leaves everywhere he goes. I say I'll start worrying about carbon when they do.

You wouldn't know it from the sparse media coverage, but the British High Court found so many errors in Gore's movie in 2007 that British schools no longer can show the film without the equivalent of a health warning.

I asked Gore if he intends to correct the record. He dodged the question, and the so-called reporters defended his right to be evasive by shutting off my mic.

The encounter was disappointing but not surprising. I served years of hard time as a liberal journalist in Europe and learned that covering the environmental beat meant toeing the line of extremism — no inconvenient questions allowed.

Sigh. Rationed health care for the baby boomers

We all know it, at least those of us who are watching. Here is a good essay about rationed health care.
If you want to see how you will die, you need no crystal ball. Just go to Europe. There you can get a glimpse of your future.

In Europe, governments already ration health care, just as Obama plans to do here. The older and sicker you are, the less care you get.

In England, for example, bureaucrats determine a patient’s eligibility for health care using the QALY system (quality-adjusted life years). They divide the cost of treatment by the number of “quality” years the patient is expected to live. Older, sicker patients are expected to live fewer “quality” years, so why bother treating them at all? On this basis, British elders are routinely denied treatment for cancer, heart disease and other deadly illnesses.

Many die in filthy, overcrowded hospitals or nursing homes, rife with pestilence, including the deadly, antibiotic-resistant “superbugs” Clostridium difficile and MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Each year in the UK, nearly three times more people die from hospital infections than from traffic accidents.

Gitmo prisoners will be transferred to US

WJR has been all over this. Apparently Standish,MI, has been approached about harboring Gitmo prisoners in the prison there. One of the concerns is that, since this will be on US soil, Standish will become an attraction for terrorists to try to invade the prison or pull something like the Beslan school murder. Remember that? Unspeakable.

We want nothing less than a global new deal

A balancing out of economic factors. Throw open the door and heat the world.
President Clinton makes his remarks in the front of the video. At approximately 3:15 in the video Howard Dean makes an appearance. Towards the end (4:45), the president of the PES talks about the “Global New Deal”.

So there you have it. Overwhelming circumstantial evidence that our Democratic party and leadership have been planning a global new deal and a sharp left turn toward Socialism, with help and coordination from foreign powers.

Could this smart president be really, really stupid?

Hm. From Harpers editor. Hm.
Are you tired of hearing how “smart” Barack Obama is? I reached my limit over the summer, when The New York Times Magazine quoted Valerie Jarrett, the president’s liaison to Chicago City Hall, declaring, “I mean, he’s really by far smarter than anybody I know.”

$ $ everywhere...Let's spend some on...FOOD....

Yes, you read that right:
First Lady Michelle Obama visited the headquarters of the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington Tuesday. She devoted much of her talk to "the growing threat of obesity, particularly childhood obesity" in the United States, and she touted HHS's recently-announced plan to spend $373 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on plans to, among other things, improve the healthfulness of foods in vending machines.
