Crushing accusations

Debuting her "bondage belt," as Drudge cryptically refers to it, Michelle O explains that everything is wrong with the current health care system because it makes mommies schedule doctor's appointments for their kids, presumably instead of daddies. One assumes this means that every family will have a personal scheduler. But that might be a lot of work too...having to actually CALL the scheduler to have them schedule the appointment. All this, for less money.

Michelle Obama said women are being “crushed by the current structure of our health care” because they often are responsible for taking care of family illnesses, arranging checkups and monitoring follow-up care.

“Women are the ones to do it,” she said to an audience of 140 people, including representatives from groups such as the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the National Council of Negro Women. “Mothers are the ones that do it. And many women find themselves doing the same thing for their spouses.”

This just gets better and better. Politico is reporting that Michelle Obama may get out in the public eye to promote the Democrats proposed takeover of health care and who better to have out there then somebody who helped pioneer the program officially known as the Urban Health Initiative, but most often referred to as "patient dumping". Maybe now we can get some answers to some lingering questions that the Chicago Sun-Times raised over a year ago. You know when the campaign was going on and the media was in full "See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil" mode.

Missile shield dismantled

President Obama said it's ok if we scrap the missile defense system that we have spent billions of dollars developing, testing, and perfecting because we have something better.

Really? I call bullshit.

There is nothing better than our current missile defense system. We know it works because we have tested it over and over again. We have spent many years and billions of dollars publicly testing and perfecting our land based missile defense system. We tested it publicly as a show of force so all hostiles knew what our capabilities were. It sent a message that we could shoot down anything they shot at us or our allies.

And we have just dismantled it in Europe.

Too disgusting

is the way the U.S. has treated allies the Poles and Czechs and the struggling democracy of Honduras. America is not what she was a few months ago. Read about it here.

There is a chance the latest scandals will convince Democrats that Acorn is too toxic a political partner. And President Barack Obama, who once ran a voter-registration program for an Acorn partner (Project Vote) and then worked for Acorn as a lawyer on key cases, has every incentive to distance himself further from the organization.

Former Acorn board members tell me the group has always been confident it will be protected. After the Nevada voter-registration fraud indictment last May, Bonnie Greathouse, Acorn's chief organizer in the state, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that "we've had bad publicity before" and survived. "People always come forward to our defense. We're just community organizers, just like the president used to be."

Nothing new here — remember, James Clyburn already compared town-hall protesters to goons who attacked civil-rights marchers — but between this and Howard Kurtz’s argument this morning that it’s racist to shout at Obama about the Constitution, I think the “post-racial presidency” can be safely pronounced dead and buried. It was always a fraud, of course, starting with the racial insinuations directed at the Clintons by Team Barry, on through the general election when accusations about McCain’s alleged racism would slip oh so innocently from The One’s lips (ask Mark Salter about that), and right up to the present day, when a guy who never seems to stop talking somehow can’t be bothered to speak up when his pals on the left pinch off poisonous loaves like this.

45% of doctors consider quitting

If socialized medicine is passed. A few days ago other articles reviewed the careers of doctors who have already quit because they could not afford to practice anymore, due to malpractice and various rising costs. IBD suggests that most doctors oppose nationalized health care. Where does NPR get its numbers, that's what I want to know. Link only.

HOUSE BANS FREE SPEECH ON HOUSE FLOOR!!

House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) has released a helpful, updated primer for members regarding their conduct on the floor and in committees.

Especially useful: The section on how to properly insult the executive branch in the in the chamber.

"Disgrace" and "nitwits" -- okay.

"Liar" or "sexual misconduct" -- ixnay.

Under section 370 of the House Rules and Manual it has been held that a Member could:

• refer to the government as “something hated, something oppressive.”
• refer to the President as “using legislative or judicial pork.”
• refer to a Presidential message as a “disgrace to the country.”
• refer to unnamed officials as “our half-baked nitwits handling foreign affairs.”

Likewise, it has been held that a member could not:

• call the President a “liar.”
• call the President a “hypocrite.”
• describe the President’s veto of a bill as “cowardly.”
• charge that the President has been “intellectually dishonest.”
• refer to the President as “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”
• refer to alleged “sexual misconduct on the President’s part.”

It was announced on Fox News that there is yet another video that will be the worst one yet with regard to dirty deeds. This story has gotten so big that the Senate has voted to rescind funding to ACORN.

Pelosi to attend "villainous" fundraiser

Yeah, she branded them as evil a few months ago, but now she's attending a fundraiser given by one of them. Guess that's the way it works, huh. From Michelle Malkin:

The Open Left blog reports exclusively that Pelosi will attend a fund-raiser next week hosted by villainous Steve Elmendorf, a registered lobbyist with almost immoral private health insurer, United Health. He’s throwing the party at his house on Sept. 24. Price of admission? $5,000 for PACs and $2,400 for individuals.

Screaming at the tv

I was screaming at the tv when I heard Obama said that HE would be held accountable if health care goes bad. Does he just not get it? HE WON'T. HE'LL be gone by then! (Unless, of course, the Congress passes an amendment to allow him to serve more than 2 terms.) Anyway, PowerLine says it PERFECTLY here in "It's Not About You, Mr. President":

The telling thing about Obama's argument is what it reveals about him. First, one would have hoped that the importance of the future of health care in this country would provide Obama with "every incentive to get this right." His statement suggests, though, that he is fully incentivized only by the political calculus.

Second, it is disconcerting that Obama would frame the discussion in terms of his own personal ambitions. To some extent, this is like Sen. DeMint's unfortunate statement about wrecking Obama's presidency by defeating this legislation, a statement that Obama jumped all over. But Obama's statement is worse because it suggests a narcissism that is unbecoming, and perhaps dangerous, in a president.

Obama seems increasingly unable to resist the kind of specious arguments a fairly bright first year law student might make in a crunch.

A top White House aide said Sunday that the thousands of conservative "tea party" demonstrators who marched in Washington on Saturday were "wrong" because they represent only a fringe section of society.

"I don't think it's indicative of the nation's mood," David Axelrod, the president's top adviser, said on CBS' "Face the Nation." "My message to them is, they're wrong."

Sneaking Harry Reid into town

So apparently Harry Reid tried to sneak into a small town in Nevada for a meeting with supporters but word got out. Now the city manager is threatening to discipline the employees who told he was coming. Funny. Thought it was his job to meet with his constituents. Read over at Pahrump Valley Times.
