Withdraw from negotiations, Mr. Boehner

So I listen---what I can bear--to various conservative commentators' opinions on avoiding the fiscal cliff.
  Rush says it's theater.
Red Eye Radio guys say it's irresponsible to abdicate authority on this issue but that American conservatives feel so strongly about their own beliefs in fiscal responsibility and the complete collapse of the economic system that they are unafraid to say let 'em have whatever they want.
Let Leftists learn the pain AGAIN that the liberal idea of tax and spend tax and spend DOES NOT WORK.
I agree with this. It's going to require pain but it needs to be done.
It's obvious that Obama doesn't take seriously anything financial.
He's not only an idiot  I respect the presidency, if not the idiot in office) but a malevolent idiot who is taking glee in spending this nation into oblivion.
Go watch the movie 2016; it's all borne out on film.
And if YOU'RE an idiot, you might think that taxing millionaires and billionaires might actually fix the problem but it won't.
  From Radioviceonline:
There were quite a few “millionaires” back in 2008. As a matter of fact, more than 321,000 returns were filed with adjusted gross incomes of $1 million or more. The problem is, even if we confiscated every single dime they made in 2008, the federal government would only be able to operate through April 11. That’s 111 days.
Keep in mind, this is only the federal government, with absolutely no consideration at all for states, local municipalities or cities. They would have to get there money elsewhere since the feds took it all.
So, why don’t we grab more? Let’s say we confiscate every single dime from individuals and families who made more than $200,000 in 2008. How many days could we run the federal government? Certainly, we’re casting a very wide net that includes people who are making really good money, so we should be able to run the federal government in 2009 with plenty left over.
Not so much. Those 4.75 million individuals or families won’t be able to cover the tab. Take it all and you can run the federal government through Sept. 10. Only 253 days.
As we know, when the politerati pulled this in England, 2/3 of the millionaires disappeared and or left. Because THEY can afford to leave.
Now I heard scheming by financial people today that if EVERY country pulled this kind of stunt, there'd be nowhere to hide.
Huh. Imagine a little unassuming country figuring this out.  Open your doors. Advertise lower tax rates. Broadcast pictures of photos of your beautiful scenery and land that can be developed. Watch the millionaires and billionaires flock to your place. Collectively those rich folks would make this country prosperous. Add a few beaches to that scenario and voila...
Though Ireland has its debt problems, it has clung to a low corporate tax rate for years in spite of Euro opposition. And, of course, Obama wants to reach his greedy fingers into countries like Ireland to demand that the country enforce American subsidiaries pay a portion of American companies' profits back to the mother ship.
Eh. Let's just destroy any incentive to do anything but wait for King Obama to drop tax bills grapes into our mouths.
  #nosympathy
From Legal Insurrection, the brilliant Branco:
  Hey, fools.
There won't be any cuts. They're laughin' at ya.
  No deals.
(Aren't there ANY responsible Democrats left? ANYWHERE?)

Why Leftists think they can cheat and lie to win

Let's have a quiet little talk about voter fraud.
We already know we have frauds for politicians but suspecting that the voting process has been tampered with underscores the frustrations of conservative voters in this country.
Sick over the results of this election, it's difficult to broach this topic because it's beyond the control of most people, other than the cheaters.
Did you know there's a rumor going around that Wood County, which went for Obama, was the center of controversy and a conspiracy theory?
In this instance, I do not believe this theory to be true.
Apparently this was started over at FrontPageMag, a reputable website which has since pulled the post. IMHO, they should have corrected the post rather than simply pull it.
Here's the FPM tweet with the dead link.
Politifact calls the accusation a lie; unfortunately Politifact is run by Leftist hacks so they are untrustworthy.
But the Sentinel Tribune interviewed the Republican director of elections for Wood County, who said that the theory is based on faulty reasoning. You can read his discussion here as to the origin of the theory.
But the greater issue is this: why are Leftists so prone to cheating, lying and doing whatever they can to win?
This is inarguable with regard to one issue alone: voter ID. Reasonable people know that in this society, voter ID should be a requirement for something as important as voting.
Even in Iraq to assure fair elections, voters were required to dip their fingers in stain after voting.
Yet we are to believe that in this country voters won't cheat?
The rationale for opposing voter ID is laughably transparent.
Yet we have Leftist leaders prancing around the country declaring it is "voter suppression" to require the Supreme Court's mandated identification.
Reports from all around the country have come in about Democrat cheating; Cleveland union thugs removed Republican poll watchers, others escort the mentally disabled to the polls to help them vote and still others troll polling places to intimidate voters who are Republican.
There's a reason this is acceptable to the Leftist.
At the core of Leftist thinking are three things: the desire to control outcomes, a resistance against the idea of a supernatural God and a rejection of ultimate truth.
Because Leftists, propelled by the Age of Reason in which Man replaced God as the center of the universe, are often atheists, they think of themselves as the arbitrators of Truth, thus elevating Man to a god-like position.
Since they are the "anointed ones," as Dr. Sowell describes them, they can determine what is the greater good for society.
Thus all paths to achieving those greater goods are justified.
  Cheat to win?
Sure, because your agenda includes equal outcomes for all, including equal paychecks, free health care and college and housing provided at the expense of the collective.
There's no doubt that these forces are hard at work in this country, horrifically and at times absurdly in charge of many powerful institutions.
Indeed, Leftists would like you to believe that the majority of the country feels as they do, having won the last election.
You hear the despair in the voices of the politically fundamentalist radio talk show hosts as they try to beat back the RINOs who want to take over the Republican party and become more like the Democrat party.
This conflict between conservatism and liberalism has been around for centuries; it's a basic argument between two different philosophies of living and governing.
Each time one party wins, the other party is said to be devastated permanently, never again to regain power as a political entity. And indeed, we do head toward a more socialist society as the country ever grows and expands.
Yet I do not believe the American spirit will be broken, even though Leftists are attempting to control every aspect of our lives right down to the Twinkie on your plate and your run around the block after dinner.
Freedom is the highest spirituality: freedom to worship God, to speak the truth, to raise a family in the way you see fit as a parent. It is a reflection of the nature of God Himself.
And it was hard fought and won by our forefathers.
What happened on November 6 will require pain: we cannot see the future but we know many unpleasant, uncomfortable and ugly things will happen as a result of a narcissist Chicagoan being in charge for another four years.
But I believe that the pain is there for a reason; pain is symptomatic of disease, a dis-ease that needs a cure.
So grouse all you want about what happened on November 6.
The answer to resolve this situation--where Leftists want to make sure YOU aren't allowed to have a generator if your power goes out, where YOU can't make any more money than a lazy Occupier working on his craft of puppetry, where YOU have to pay a yearly wealth tax on all you own and the likes of Al Cheater Sharpton are referenced as a presidential economic consultant--the answer to this grandiose mess created by the communist Leftists who've finally emerged from the shadows is to speak up.
  Get involved.
  Be a poll watcher.
  Go to school board meetings.
  Become a community organizer.
  Become an activist.
Do NOT be afraid to say what you think, regardless the consequences.
  Conservatives by nature avoid conflict.
  This has to change.
Conflict is upon us, whether we like it or not.
And whether we like it or not, Leftists will attempt to steal our right to speak our minds if we don't put a stop to it.
Many of us are demoralized, which is exactly what the Left and the MSM but I repeat myself want.
That, to quote the First Lady, simply isn't who we are.
We're God-loving, patriotic, family oriented, gun-owning citizens who have a right to speak up and a duty in these hard times to be prepared for all things.
The way to stop voter fraud is to get involved.
  And buy a generator.
  And a gun.
And appeal to the God Almighty who has had a guiding hand on this nation for centuries.

Government waste, item #1,000,001

So you'll be happy to know that that big tax increase looming on the first of January will be well "invested" in this program of supplying fancy wheels for politicians, which Democrats say is not wasteful. That is, there's no waste or fat to cut in the government spending.
  I mean seriously.
I just don't get why everyone's all upset about Morsi saying the courts don't matter and he should be able to do whatever he wants. The dude's just copying Obama, after all.
I know, I know, I promised myself and my reader (Thanks, Janto keep it positive, uplifting and avoid the rather ghastly political developments of Our Lord and Savior Barack Obama being re-elected, the grotesque gloating of Leftist boobs and the slavering LSM who can't seem to compliment enough Our Lord and Savior Barack Obama.
This little report is exactly what's a problem about this government. Not unlike a school with a petty dictator for a principal, government employees--even the least of them--feel comfortable ordering whatever they want for themselves with no regard for cost, the children or the staff, sneaking around hoping they won't get caught.
Not to mention that this vehicle isn't exactly enviro-friendly at 15 mpg, it's quite showy, apparently designed to impress the least among us like the "pimp mobile" my friend drives.
  So here's the report.
  Remember.
  It's Friday but Sunday's comin.'

Is Barack Obama our Lord and Savior?

So the big controversy today is Jamie Foxx at the Soul Train Awards claiming Barack Obama is "our lord and savior."
Naturally when you're a big shot and you make an enormous GAFFE like this, embarrassing yourself and bringing the wrath of the nation's Christians down on your head, you have to pretend it was a joke.
Haha. I meant to say that as a joke.
So now those godless Leftists are claiming conservatives are such pruny faced losers that they would have to see it as a serious statement, which, of course, it was not.
  Because it was a joke.
Here's Foxx's introductory statement from a Leftist website:
Foxx joked: “It’s like church over here. It’s like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama."
So it's like a church in this gathering but it's just a joke that Barack Obama's their lord and savior.
The Red Eye Radio guys played this this morning.
  (Sidetrack.
IMHO, if you're like me, you're addicted to radio but unable still to listen to all the moaning, complaining and pushing of the so-called Republican party back to the right by your favorite hosts.
What you should do is download the Red Eye Radio guys' podcasts (unless you're up to listening from 1-6 a.m., which you can do with iHeart Radio). Podcasts are posted by about 8:00 a.m. and will give you about 3 hours of commercial free cheering up, yet rational dealing with today's issues without the depression and hysteria so many of us are feeling.
You can use QRReader to get the App here or go to the iTunes store here. The QRReader isn't a bad app to have, as you may be noticing all the barcodes around products that will give you more information and deals.)
RER guys said it was clear this was NOT a joke, even though Foxx is supposed to be a religious guy.
Watch for yourself and see. One Black lady called in and said she did not believe that Barack Obama worshiped any god but himself; she was offended at Foxx's comments, as are many Christians, Black and otherwise.

But this whole "Barack is god" is nothing new!
You'll recall Evan Thomas of Newsweek claimed Barack was above the fray, hovering above partisans sort of "like God."
We've seen the fainting at his rallies, the unquestioning adoration of horrendous policies even as the poor, particularly the poor people who are Black, sink lower and lower economically, reduced to begging for government handouts.
And there's more, like this book by a university instructor (phys ed, if you must know) called "The Gospel According to Apostle Barack: In Search of a More Perfect Political Union as "Heaven Here on Earth"
"Yes, Barack had worked tirelessly on behalf of the American people, especially those who elected him in 2008. His followers needed to re-elect him to a second term, so that he could continue to accomplish the promises he made, thus, realizing his vision of America as a more perfect political union or “heaven here on earth.”
Then, as I began to contemplate ways to assist Barack in his 2012 re-election bid something miraculous happened. I felt God’s (His) Spirit beckoning me in my dreams at night. Listening, cautiously, I learned that Jesus walked the earth to create a more civilized society, Martin (Luther King) walked the earth to create a more justified society, but, Apostle Barack, the name he was called in my dreams, would walk the earth to create a more equalized society, for the middle class and working poor. Apostle Barack, the next young leader with a new cause, had been taken to the mountaintop and allowed to see over the other side. He had the answers to unlock the kingdom of “heaven here on earth” for his followers. The answers were repeated - over and over - in speeches Barack had made from his presidential announcement to his inaugural address. Those speeches or his teachings contained the answers to the middle class and working poor people living in a “heaven here on earth.” For when the answers were unlocked and enacted, Apostle Barack’s vision of America would be realized.
This woman, whose book has 1 star from 38 reviews, is serious.
This phys ed teacher believes that Barack Obama is a uniter of people, that he actually wants to bring people together rather than divide, mock and ridicule and steal from most of us.
Is Barack Obama the Messiah, one blogger's been asking since the beginning? Oh, the quotes on that website are worth a trip, just reading the sidebar.
A godlike consciousness. The lightbringer. An agent of transformation. A prophecy fulfilled.
  Huh.
And yet Obama listened for 20 years to the hateful Jeremiah Wright. And yet Barack Hussein Obama fails to mention God repeatedly, such as in all his Thanksgiving Day addresses.
Though some complain that Barack is only half Black and that the nation won't prove that it's not racist until a wholly Black president is elected, many (indeed most) claim that Barack is anointed by God, like this person, who is only too willing to believe that all the commie stuff Obama's doing is coming from God and heading us them toward a more perfect union.
The Prophetess said that God pointed out to her that Barack Obama has been able to rise above racial oppression in this country due to an annointing over his life. Certain factors of his lineage has enabled him to advance to Presidency despite many malicious attempts against him. Many people have not been able to do what he has done because the spirit of racism is very oppressive and heavy in this nation.

Through Barack, intiatives that God wants to have done will come to pass for instance Affordable Health Care.
Mmmm, I'm just gonna say, Leftists need to get it together. And Black people need to realize that Barack Obama is not their friend, but their enemy.
The fairy tale these people believe is dangerous, destructive and evil. It's like a cult; unreasoning worship can only lead down bad roads.
  The other thing is this.
Even if I had the chance, I ain't standin' too close to Barack Hussein Obama.
Cuz it's Friday but Sunday's comin.'
Key scene around 4:20, though the whole thing is worth watching.

Best POTUS EVAH!

I was worried for a while that Barack Obama was the AntiChrist, but then I realized how incompetent he is. Evil, yes. Competent, no. It would seem to me if you're the AntiChrist, you'd have to be competent in some measure.
  Not to worry.
Back in December 2011, BO rattled off the POTUSes who may be competition for best POTUS ever. Reaganite Republican wondered WHY CBS thought this arrogant statement so insignificant as to CUT it from the 60 minutes show on which BO appeared.

Cloward Pivening Benghazi & conservatives

So I have a theory about what's going on with the many tall tales the current administration is telling about what actually happened in Benghazi when four Americans were murdered due to lack of action on the part of the people in charge.
The principle of Cloward Piven is to overwhelm the system with financial demands that can never be met. This has already happened with the Obama welfare state: you know, all the free stuff this government is giving out and the trillions of dollars the Fed is printing.
I believe what's happening with Benghazi is using the same approach; this administration is feeding so many farcical explanations, lies and feints into the public consciousness that we are overwhelmed.
You really can't believe any of the absurd stories being spun so why believe any of them?
After a while, the average citizen simply tunes out, doesn't listen or question the absurdities anymore.
And the press doesn't ask because they don't care and because they know the stories are so stupid no one will believe them anyway.
  But mostly they don't care.
These behaviors are part of a pattern, of course.
We see it with the continual bombardment of "If you question (______), you are a racist/homophobe/sexist)" accusations that have overwhelmed public discourse to the point that any Black person/woman/homosexual in the administration can say anything with impunity, knowing that disagreement will be immediately crushed, swamped with all manner of scurrilous accusations and press conferences with said aggrieved "minorities" denouncing the morality of even questioning the integrity or truthfulness of any Black person/woman/homosexual in the administration.
Cloward Piven at work, only applied politically rather than financially.
Take, for example, the whole ridiculous contraception debate.
If you'll recall, the topic was introduced by former Clinton official and NBC employee George Stephanopolous when he asked a puzzled Romney, out of the clear blue heavens, if he still beat his wife wanted to ban contraception.
This opened the door to lots of public stage screaming about how mean Republicans are because they want to save babies' lives don't support free public abortion camps, the embarrassing Sandra Fluke episode and that horrible HBO person who claimed voting was like losing virginity.
And it's not the first time this administration, which appears to pick its dummies spokespersons carefully, has sent someone like Rice out to state stupid controversial positions.
Recall Hilary Rosen whose impeccable lesbian credentials entitle her to say anything who boldly proclaimed committed a political gaffe by declaring that Ann Romney hadn't worked a day in her life.
In what was no gaffe, Rosen then retreated from the stage leaving Republicans to defend their nominee's wife, whose health problems and courage were suddenly insignificant compared to the supposition that, to be a real woman, a mother must be paid with dollars in addition to or rather than love.
Soon Republicans were beating back suggestions that they (and their candidate) were stuck in the fifties when women worked at home as mothers didn't work and lived in a gauzy, unreal Pleasantville that should never be replicated again because of its stifling bigotry and rigidity.
What I'm suggesting is that the Obamabots have entered into a Cloward Piven approach in rhetoric and press releases.
Overwhelm the system and you won't have to actually articulate the truth or, as we have so far seen, face reality.
There's a limitation to this sort of philosophy. The economic goal of Cloward Piven is to establish a minimum guaranteed income for everyone, ultimately relieving anyone of the tiresome task of taking responsibility for one's own life.
  The limitation is obvious.
As even liberal progressive evangelical Tony Campolo might say, it's Friday now.
  But Sunday's comin.'
  Oh, Sunday's comin.'

Lindsey Stone, no cure for stupid in sight

Perhaps schadenfreude is the best revenge when you're recovering from an election loss.
One of the most satisfying cases is that of Lindsey Stone. Why?
Because no worthwhile person had to lose a job over this moment of schadenfreude.
  Who's Lindsey Stone, self-admitted "douchebag"?
She's the woman who decided to pose screaming in front of the Arlington Cemetery "show respect" sign with her middle finger raised.
But, here, let's look at what Porky Lindsey posted on her Facebook page:
Like the post-election current rise in jobless numbers, this picture went unexpectedly viral.
Porky Lindsey happens to work for a compassionate non-profit that helps disabled people live independently, according to The Blaze. Oh, and she was on duty with 40 residents when her fellow employee, also porky, took the pic.
Porky Lindsey's porky friend and co-worker posted the hilarious picture yes, on Facebook, where people with brains and sensibilities found it so distasteful that thousands demanded that Porky Lindsey and her clever co-worker join the unemployment ranks.
Who, after all, wants their disabled family member trapped in a wheelchair or bed being cared for by self-admitted douchebags who have a respect deficit? What's next? Lindsey posing in a home wearing a client's oxygen mask? Lying in a client's bed? Spending a client's money?
Once internet virality took hold, the two douchebags deleted the evidence and started blabbing about how they really meant no disrespect, even to the point of having Porky Lindsey's father defend her publicly.
Alas, the stupid defense did not work in this case, although it has worked in the highest levels of government so far.
  Douchebags fired.
  Sayonara.
  So long.
  Adios.
  Goodbye.
Schadenfreude nursed in patriot bosom as early compensation for election losses.
  More to come.
And more Facebook stupidity, we're sure.

Unions continue wrecking ball politics

I dunno about you, but I HEARD the local Perrysburg Walmart was JAMMED last night with NO PARKING SPACES in their huge parking lot.
I don't shop on Black Friday (at least out of the house) but I have to say the only reason I would venture out today would be to shop at the Perrysburg Walmart if I heard there were protesters there. Obviously that's a reason to support your local Walmart.
Unions are routinely deceitful and brutish in trying to gain more of the market, in particular with Walmart, where Hillary Clinton once served on the Walmart board.
So here's a glass lifted to all the unions have achieved, thanks to the brilliant Branco at Legal Insurrection:

More MSM delusions about the Obamas

Here we are again in another gushing article having to suffer under the delusion that Michelle Obama is the best dressed fashionista First Lady evah.
Now however the press is moving on to elder daughter Malia as a budding fashionista.
This Daily Mail article is full of gushers and mushers, including proof of extreme fashion sense offered in the form of these photos, in addition to others:

So this article, which is only one of many to rave about the Obama style, also mushes on about how wonderfully elegant and graceful young Malia is.
  Um, yeah.
To be sure, I'm not criticizing the kid herself.
It's the totally lips-to-the-butt attitude of the writers who cover these people. These writers are totally detached from reality.
Is it possible I live on a different planet than these people?
Cuz what I"m seein' quite often isn't reflected in what they're seein'.
And here's what the Daily Mail says:
Looking every bit as poised and elegant as her mother, the long-limbed first daughter has taken the awkward out of adolescence with ease.
In the weeks since election night, the emerging styles of the Obama daughters, and especially Malia, has taken center stage - the 14-year-old blossoming from the President's wide-eyed 'baby' into a self-assured young woman who has inherited her mother's confidence, bold fashion sense and looks.
Wearing a shiny blue full skirt from ASOS with a neon pink Zara belt, and J. Crew flats, Malia proved she has inherited her mother's classic but bold sensibility on election night - seamlessly following in her well-heeled footsteps.
Well, yes, she has inherited her mother's looks. That's true. And probably confidence, considering the current occupants in the White House are confident in fundamentally transforming America into a bunch of moochers and whiners.

Jobless numbers up

Gosh, what a surprise! Another first time jobless number in the 400s 2 weeks after the election.
410,000 this week. Of course, this is being touted as a "drop" from last week, due to hurricane Sandy, without noting that these numbers are up from the strange numbers of the weeks preceding the election.
Pretty strange that Christmas hiring is going on but no one's mentioning THAT.
And, gee, last week's elevated numbers have been revised upward 90,000. Of course, these are all guesses, albeit educated guesses at what the real unemployment number is. And, of course, the number of people who have actually stopped looking for work isn't reported.
Cuz, you know, that'd be depressing or something.
And above all, we don't want the Obamabots to be depressed.
Or even, let's say, know the truth.
  Who said things like:
STRONG JOB FIGURES BELIE ROMNEY’S ATTACKS
But now voila! the jobless numbers are UP!
  Bottoms up, mateys!

Take your freakin' Biden/Obama signs down

  Okay, it's over.
It's been over for quite a while now.
I'm just gonna say if you still have your Biden/Obama signs up in your yard, you're a blowhard arrogant narcissistic freakazoid who likes to rub in winning.
  Yeah. You're a poor winner.
Conversely, if you still have your Romney/Ryan sign up, you're sending a different signal. You aren't giving in to the robot mentality that is currently governing the Obamabots. You're resisting being part of the collective, the hive.
  And yeah, I'm a partisan.
So what. Just take your freakin' Biden/Obama sign down already.

Tofu or turkey?

Roast Turkey
Paul McCartney says to say no to turkeys for Thanksgiving. Go "cruelty free." Go vegetarian. Or maybe even go tofu.
  What do you think?
To turkey or not to turkey?
Tofu

Colman McCarthy, peace activist and anarchist but I repeat myself, provides a real roast turkey buzz kill; he appears on tv now and then around TG and says stuff like this about turkeys
I insist on using accurate language to describe Thanksgiving: our only national holiday focused on a corpse, a turkey's. Even then, that's not really the full story. The Thanksgiving cadaver is a chemicalized, antibiotic-laced, bioengineered blob of high-fat, high-cholesterol flesh that is part of the food chain because the National Turkey Federation, among other vested interests, stakes large amounts of advertising and promotional money to dupe the public into equating their birds -- profitable "production units" -- as essential to Thursday's celebration of the fall harvest.
Oh, in case you've forgotten, Patriot Walt Churchill's Market in Perrysburg has the best meat in Northwest Ohio, plus you can still get a fresh free range turkey there for Thanksgiving Day.
  It's not too late.
Or you could do the whole tofu thing.
I'm sure it also is delicious deep fried and stuffed.

Buck up, muchachos

I really can't stand the post mortem of a losing (however close) political campaign. The sniping is vicious and in the middle of it is always that nasty little Steve Schmidt and a couple other RINO operatives who really need to find a different line of work.
Like Megan McCain, for one. Uh. The boob tweeter.
So all the hysteria's coming out now.
Like the Bloomberg reporter who subtly questioned the validity of democracy's questioners: why can't Obama just "rule" like the Chinese? WHY, dammit?
And the climate change freaks, who have hauled out every wind machine and chart they ever manufactured to try to prove that hurricane Sandy was the culmination of thousands of Prius's emissions for the last decade.
  Meh.
For now, I'm pulling the blanket back over my head and eating some more of those Hostess cupcakes I bought the other day.
Which, btw, aren't nearly as good as I remembered them.
  Huh.
Maybe Taco Twinkies will be better.
  Or Twinkie Bells.
Or Long Dongs and Hos, instead of Ding Dongs and Ho-Hos.
Yeah, South of zee Border always does it better.
  With cheese.

Govt time & travel survey WASTE OF MONEY

So this elderly citizen I know received this survey in the mail. He started to fill it out and then thought, "Geez, why am I doing this? This is really a stupid survey and who knows why these people want to know this information."
Take a look at the survey. Click to embiggen.
Yes, the Department of Commerce paid some company to run this survey.
It must be very necessary, you're thinking, I"m sure, if our government paid some company to send out a survey asking about, um, travel.
So let's look at the 3 urgent questions sent to thousands of homes, paid for by credit cards own by China:
So, yeaahhh, our government wants to know if you've shopped on the internet, gone to the beach, or a ball game in the last year.
Our government wants to know which states you've visited, not including Ohio, and if you go to the beach.
And don't worry about sending the survey back because it's FREE--er--paid for by the taxpayers.
  But wait! There's more.
Just as my elderly friend was tossing the whole kit n' caboodle into the fireplace, what dropped out of the envelope?
Ah! A $2 bill!! Paid for by YOU!
The elderly citizen is rich! Don't blow it all in one place, elderly citizen!
Bah. Toss the dang survey to the side, pocket the two bucks, and forget about it.
  He thought it was over.
He didn't respond because it's VOLUNTARY, addressed, I might add, to OHIO RESIDENT:
Oh, please, please, please return this voluntary survey!
So onto a shelf the survey goes, forgotten for a few days until one week later when THIS arrives:
That's right! A follow up postcard, scolding and cajoling said random household for not returning the survey promptly.
  Fat chance THAT's gonna happen.
Ok, so I go to the Commerce Department's online info about this survey (which apparently, where I find a couple of irritated responses like this one:
Time And Travel SurveyWhat a waste of my time and govt. resources. It appeared bogus to me when I received it the first time and I could not find anything about it on the Dept. website. Finally I see something was posted on July 16 about it. It appears to be more of a survey for follow-up to sell time-shares at the coast - sure hope I don't start getting a bunch of phone calls and junk mail related to travel.
Whereupon the Dept of Commerce unionist responded with a repeated robotic "We take your personal information seriously and don't share it with anyone...." Which we can all trust, right?
So in typical government fashion, a few irritated comments from taxpayers warranted this Commerce unionist action:

  Ha! Spam!
Like we fuddy duddies out here know anything about SPAM from the government!
But all Americans will not be fooled, bamboozled or bought!
Someone posting over HERE thinks, as he puts it, his Obama money ship has finally come in:
After 3 1/2 years of watching everyone around me get Obama money my ship has finally come in. Today I got a Dept of Commerce letter in the mail with a $2.00 bill. My windfall has arrived. They said I could have the $2 if if completed a "Time and Travel Survey" consisting of three questions. "The Department of Commerce will use the information to assist a number of state and federal agencies in making decisions about how to manage resources.
Hey, you don't need to hire a clown or a mind reader to know that we're broke and this is one of the reasons why.
And one week later, yet another government reminder...

Bloomberg reporter shames self with question

Called upon as one of the 3 reporters to ask questions, the greasy haired female Bloomberg News Reporter cracks a joke about Obama asking some monk to pray for our fiscal cliff and then asks the Thai Prime Minister why Thailand, or any emerging democracies, would even be interested in a democracy when poor Obama has had so much trouble getting Congress to avoid the fiscal cliff?
Isn't China's way of doing things so much more appealing than democracy, the reporter asks?
Because really, it's so much easier to just kill your opposition, ya know, if they won't do what you want.

Obama gives picture of self to Thai King

Hey, do I have a deal for you!
  Fiscal cliff?
  Oh, not THAT deal!
We can work that out later. I'm sure. Yeah. I'll just ask a monk over in Thailand if he'll pray for our country. Then it'll be HIS and HIS GOD's problem when we fall over it. Haha!
So I'm not worried about the problems we have in this country.
No, my deal is Let's Take A Trip!! and forget about Benghazi, the fiscal cliff, the lies, the lack of budget....
Thailand! Whoo hoo! Here we come!
I better take that chubby Hillary and her baggy silk suits with me, so it looks like I'm on business and not doin' a victory lap.
I love Thai food, after all. Hey, I'll mention that cuz that'll prove I'm into diversity.
I gotta give 'em somethin' over in Thailand. I mean, hey! That's what I do! I give people stuff!
Let's see. I already gave the Churchill bust back to England.
Gave the queen a CD with all my pre-presidential speeches on it.
What should I give the king of Thailand?
How about...a picture of me?? !! Brilliant!
  I'm brilliant, as usual.
  But wait.
I don't want to get a new Twitter hashtag. Those tweeters are merciless.
So instead of just a picture of ME with the King of Thailand, who's met the most American presidents of any living ruler, I'll include the pictures of all the previous presidents the King has met and save the last page for a picture...OF ME!!
   Oh, YEAH!
  They can't hashtag me then!
#obamasego
Yeah, I'm gonna feel right at home in Thailand!

Obamacare opposition NOT DEAD YET

Don't get your hopes up (because we know what happens when you GET YOUR HOPES UP) but the Supremes have decided to consider taking up the previously dismissed Liberty University case against Obamacare's employer mandate and the constitutional challenge of requiring religious employers to enable morally objectionable requirements like abortion.
  Breitbart News:
Staver filed a petition for rehearing, asking the Court to reconsider because Liberty University was different in several regards from the other cases. Now the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has agreed, saying it does not object to the case being resuscitated.
In addition to making the same arguments about the constitutionality of the Individual Mandate in regards to the Commerce Clause and Congress’ taxing powers, Liberty argues that the mandate violates other constitutional prohibitions. The university contends that Obamacare violates its First Amendment religious freedoms through its funding of abortions and other practices that are contradictory to the religious mission of the university.
The lawsuit also challenges one of the other major provisions of Obamacare—the Employer Mandate. This article of the law requires that all companies employing 50 or more people must provide health insurance that meets federal guidelines, or the employer will be subject to a penalty of $2,000 per employee, per year (a minimum penalty of $100,000 a year for companies that meet the 50 employee provision).
Providing health insurance has always been a benefit of a job; now the government is requiring certain benefits be extended. Will this influence this case?
In short, Obamacare opponents are not dead yet.
Meanwhile, back to our favorite conspiracy theories.

Obama's "I did not have sexual relations" moment

Somehow these two incidents have merged in my mind.
Faux-rage, we'll call it, only Obama's more verbose than Clinton (this time), who wanted to exit left as soon as possible.

"I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me ... I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky," Clinton said during a White House after-school care event with his wife standing by his side. (448K wav sound)"I never told anybody to lie, not a single time. Never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work," Clinton continued.
But let me say specifically about Susan Rice, she has done exemplary work. She has represented the United States and our interests in the United Nations with skill, and professionalism, and toughness, and grace. As I’ve said before, she made an appearance at the request of the White House in which she gave her best understanding of the intelligence that had been provided to her.
OBAMA: If Senator McCain and Senator Graham, and others want to go after somebody? They should go after me. And I’m happy to have that discussion with them. But for them to go after the U.N. ambassador who had nothing to do with Benghazi? And was simply making a presentation based on intelligence that she had received? And to besmirch her reputation is outrageous. And, you know, we’re after an election now.
I think it is important for us to find out exactly what happened in Benghazi and I’m happy to cooperate in any ways that Congress wants. We have provided every bit of information that we have and we will continue to provide information. And we’ve got a full-blown investigation, and all that information will be disgorged to Congress.
And I don’t think there’s any debate in this country that when you have four Americans killed, that’s a problem.

Brian Wilson departs Toledo market

  So long.
  Farewell.
  Au Wiedersehen.
  Goodbye.
The Ron Paul obsessed Brian Wilson is OFF THE AIR in Toledo at WSPD. Can't say I"m going to miss him, considering I quit listening a couple years ago when he started relentlessly bashing everyone who wasn't a hard core Ron Paulian.
Wilson, who was also station manager at WSPD took pleasure in booting Levin off the air in February with this explanation:
"In response to Mark Levin's outrageous diatribes, mis and disinformation slanderously leveled at Ron Paul, Tom Woods, Lew Rockwell (personal and professional friends of mine), I will be exploring other options effective immediately.
"If Mark ever gets a grip on his rational self or develops the class and courtesy to apologize to the three gentleman mentioned above, I'll give him another listen."
Heh. He's already off the show roster over at WSPD.

The Twinkie Apocalypse is upon us

Ok, so I'll admit it. I rushed to Kazmeier's yesterday to buy my beloved Hostess cupcakes and Ho-Hos even though I pretty much avoid gluten but anywho my freezer has some new occupants which will be doled out sparingly the next few weeks.
The teenage bagger said, "Whoa. This is, like, the best bag I've packed all day." I felt rich and very, very wise.
You've probably heard about it already, the demise of the original brand Twinkies, because it's been on all the stations, including ESPN, although what the heck Twinkies have to do with sports, I'm not sure, except I'm pretty sure Moochelle doesn't want you to eat them.
Of course, we all know that secretly Moochelle is hiding behind her couch at the White House snarfing down HoHos as fast as she can, ready to adapt with another boob belt that will hide her, um, assets, throwing the New York Times fashion editor Robin Givhan's focus on Moochelle's fabulous arms instead of her huge can.
If you're desperate, you can wander over to eBay and find Twinkies for about 5 times what they went for yesterday. Or twenty bucks. Or ten bucks. Or whatever the market will bear.
Until, of course, China buys the brands and recipes and floods the markets with solar panels cupcakes, Twinkies and HoHos.
And we all KNOW what great quality control CHINA has.
So maybe they'll expand the brand to include, you know, like, Twinkies fingers (follow that link at your own risk) or something.
NOTE: I've been trying to staying away from the whole end of the universe death of America thing everyone's doing and only post positive stuff.
This resulted in no post yesterday.
Though all is good and the weather's great. Great.
If you're in end of the universe death of America mode that so many of my friends are, you might avoid Rush et al trying to keep the Republican party from bolting into the Leftist corral of leaving the door open to heat the outdoors and buying the love of the masses with cheap cologne.
If you're accustomed to listening to talk radio and not quite ready to listen to 8 hours of Christmas music, you'll definitely be going through talk radio withdrawal.
I advise downloading free podcast by Red Eye Radio, who deal with politics but also interesting cultural essentials like the Twinkie Apocalypse.
Also Ravi Zacharias is, well, magnificent.

So I get my blood drawn and....

Ron Paul's Out

Not a big fan of the isolationist Ron Paul, but he does stand for liberty and he's right about a lot of things. Here's his letter.

Farewell to Congress

This may well be the last time I speak on the House Floor. At the end of the year I’ll leave Congress after 23 years in office over a 36 year period. My goals in 1976 were the same as they are today: promote peace and prosperity by a strict adherence to the principles of individual liberty.

It was my opinion, that the course the U.S. embarked on in the latter part of the 20th Century would bring us a major financial crisis and engulf us in a foreign policy that would overextend us and undermine our national security.

To achieve the goals I sought, government would have had to shrink in size and scope, reduce spending, change the monetary system, and reject the unsustainable costs of policing the world and expanding the American Empire.

The problems seemed to be overwhelming and impossible to solve, yet from my view point, just following the constraints placed on the federal government by the Constitution would have been a good place to start.

How Much Did I Accomplish?

In many ways, according to conventional wisdom, my off-and-on career in Congress, from 1976 to 2012, accomplished very little. No named legislation, no named federal buildings or highways – thank goodness. In spite of my efforts, the government has grown exponentially, taxes remain excessive, and the prolific increase of incomprehensible regulations continues. Wars are constant and pursued without Congressional declaration, deficits rise to the sky, poverty is rampant and dependency on the federal government is now worse than any time in our history.

All this with minimal concerns for the deficits and unfunded liabilities that common sense tells us cannot go on much longer. A grand, but never mentioned, bipartisan agreement allows for the well-kept secret that keeps the spending going. One side doesn’t give up one penny on military spending, the other side doesn’t give up one penny on welfare spending, while both sides support the bailouts and subsidies for the banking and corporate elite. And the spending continues as the economy weakens and the downward spiral continues. As the government continues fiddling around, our liberties and our wealth burn in the flames of a foreign policy that makes us less safe.

The major stumbling block to real change in Washington is the total resistance to admitting that the country is broke. This has made compromising, just to agree to increase spending, inevitable since neither side has any intention of cutting spending.

The country and the Congress will remain divisive since there’s no "loot left to divvy up."
Without this recognition the spenders in Washington will continue the march toward a fiscal cliff much bigger than the one anticipated this coming January.

I have thought a lot about why those of us who believe in liberty, as a solution, have done so poorly in convincing others of its benefits. If liberty is what we claim it is- the principle that protects all personal, social and economic decisions necessary for maximum prosperity and the best chance for peace- it should be an easy sell. Yet, history has shown that the masses have been quite receptive to the promises of authoritarians which are rarely if ever fulfilled.

Authoritarianism vs. Liberty

If authoritarianism leads to poverty and war and less freedom for all individuals and is controlled by rich special interests, the people should be begging for liberty. There certainly was a strong enough sentiment for more freedom at the time of our founding that motivated those who were willing to fight in the revolution against the powerful British government.

During my time in Congress the appetite for liberty has been quite weak; the understanding of its significance negligible. Yet the good news is that compared to 1976 when I first came to Congress, the desire for more freedom and less government in 2012 is much greater and growing, especially in grassroots America. Tens of thousands of teenagers and college age students are, with great enthusiasm, welcoming the message of liberty.

I have a few thoughts as to why the people of a country like ours, once the freest and most prosperous, allowed the conditions to deteriorate to the degree that they have.

Freedom, private property, and enforceable voluntary contracts, generate wealth. In our early history we were very much aware of this. But in the early part of the 20th century our politicians promoted the notion that the tax and monetary systems had to change if we were to involve ourselves in excessive domestic and military spending. That is why Congress gave us the Federal Reserve and the income tax. The majority of Americans and many government officials agreed that sacrificing some liberty was necessary to carry out what some claimed to be "progressive" ideas. Pure democracy became acceptable.

They failed to recognized that what they were doing was exactly opposite of what the colonists were seeking when they broke away from the British.

Some complain that my arguments makes no sense, since great wealth and the standard of living improved for many Americans over the last 100 years, even with these new policies.

But the damage to the market economy, and the currency, has been insidious and steady. It took a long time to consume our wealth, destroy the currency and undermine productivity and get our financial obligations to a point of no return. Confidence sometimes lasts longer than deserved. Most of our wealth today depends on debt.

The wealth that we enjoyed and seemed to be endless, allowed concern for the principle of a free society to be neglected. As long as most people believed the material abundance would last forever, worrying about protecting a competitive productive economy and individual liberty seemed unnecessary.
